MAJOR M8.7 Solar Flare

brace for impact ...two days !

I am going to shut everything up and stay indoors for the next 67 hrs just to be safe.

Can someone more knowledgeable help here?

I saw this alert. Now if it was a CME, it would hit within 48 hours and it could do some damage. Not quite an X class but almost.

However I’m poking around and it looks like this is a “solar flare” and not a CME. Apparently there’s a difference. Can someone explain what it is?

not unless there was a cme... solar flares are x Ray flares.. NOT CME's and the size of the flare has NOTHING to do with the size of any CME released.

Educate yourselves on this folks.. its easy to d0.
