Why should there be such a thing as a marriage license? Why give the government the power to tell you, "NO!" | |

Nobody wants his daughter to waste her life along with time she could have spent developing life skills with some idiot for whatever the reason may be with nothing to show for it out on the street with a kid to take care of and no dignified means to do so. Just like nobody wants just anybody to have medical power of attorney over their son in the event of something happening. If you don't like it, don't do it. |

It has to do with murder. People murder others over delusions of success from a few photos online. Now imagine your entire projected life purpose and worth and sometimes even survival actually hinging on one person. |

So I can trade their financial future for 18 years of tax deductions? Seems to me it's cheaper not to take the deduction and raise your kid the way you want. I used to worry about how they'd get a license etc without a birth certificate but Democrats fixed that dilemma right up for me. Now being undocumented comes with more rights and privileges so why register your kid with daddy.gov? |

Why give the government the power to tell you, "NO!" OP is correct. Marriage existed long before Governments did. Marriage is a social covenant, not a governmental one. But...a legal relationship defines rights to property. The correct answer is two people should be allowed to enter into a legal contract that defines their relationship, but it should not be considered a 'marriage'. And Government should have no law, rule, tax or preference for any group. Each individual should be treated the same under the law. Government uses marriage as a tool to manipulate and divide people. |

Quoting: Uncle Gintel nope marriage licenses shouldn't even exist they're just a bullshit gov. overreach, money & power grab the gov. has no business in the personal relationships of the husband and wife marriage is a commitment not a business & gov. contract the marriage commitment is between a husband & wife the covenant vows are between a husband and wife and no one else the only "piece of paper" that should exist is a legal document for inheritance purposes the surviving spouse has all legal rights to the assets, properties, money, investments, etc. (°ö°) Swirl Life |

Why give the government the power to tell you, "NO!" Correct. In fact Common Law marriages are still lawful. All they require is two witnesses to say they saw the two people enter into a private agreement of marriage. Never allow a third party interloper into a contract, such as your government. Why does the govt get to preside over your marriage under the marriage license system? Because they denied you full legal knowledge. Honest people would not do that. In this we see all Judges and Court Lawyers are dishonest, even the Supreme court, who have also made sure you don't know The Law as standard. It defies all common sense to allow Dishonest people to preside over any sort of Law. Judges and Lawyers are required to be Honest. It is part of their obligations, yet none of them have tried to rectify this situation by making the Laws known and part of your basic education. They have done this deliberately to allow governments to have power over you that they are snot supposed to have. When the laws are unfair you don't have to follow them. Common sense tells you that. How can you be held accountable to rules you don't have a copy of in a fair system. Simply put you cannot. Judges and Lawyers are fraudsters and con-artists. None of them can prove me wrong. |

I know back in my mom's day they tested blood because if one person was an positive and the other a negative the children could have issues on birth, which was the case of my mom. |

There have been a lot of men that go after wealthy widows and marry them just for their money, the widows don't know they're already married in another state. |
