Why should there be such a thing as a marriage license? Why give the government the power to tell you, "NO!"

Do what you want just don't say you're legally married. Or you can lie to other people in everyday conversation if you want there's no law against that.

It's to protect both parties involved. People are people. Nobody wants his daughter to waste her life along with time she could have spent developing life skills with some idiot for whatever the reason may be with nothing to show for it out on the street with a kid to take care of and no dignified means to do so. Take it a step further: why should I register any kids I have with the government? So I can trade their financial future for 18 years of tax deductions? Seems to me it's cheaper not to take the deduction and raise your kid the way you want.

I used to worry about how they'd get a license etc without a birth certificate but Democrats fixed that dilemma right up for me. Now being undocumented comes with more rights and privileges so why register your kid with daddy.gov?

Marriage existed long before Governments did. Marriage is a social covenant, not a governmental one.

But...a legal relationship defines rights to property.

The correct answer is two people should be allowed to enter into a legal contract that defines their relationship, but it should not be considered a 'marriage'.

And Government should have no law, rule, tax or preference for any group. Each individual should be treated the same under the law.

I know back in my mom's day they tested blood because if one person was an positive and the other a negative the children could have issues on birth, which was the case of my mom.
