I see bur Ed cars on the highway a fair amount but the last I drove the highway I saw a lot of burn spots. I thought more than usual. those were Teslas. ok i gotta admit, thats a good catch. so do you believe cars are 4x more likely to burn than Teslas are? . |

S. Shamban & Company" I worked for W.S. Shamban in the 1980s, we produced teflon seals. Teflon is actually a pretty dangerous substance because it's fluorine bound to carbon, extremely strong chemical bonds, which means they're aren't attracted to anything else. That's why nothing sticks to Teflon. Fluorine gas is *highly* reactive, it can kill you. So I worked in the production of the seals, with lithium and teflon, etc. We always kept the lithium in either an oil bath or ether, so it couldn't react with air. One day my new supervisor, who knew nothing about chemicals (I was a CE major), disregarded the safety protocols because he didn't want to wear gloves. So he got some teflon powder on his hands, which got on his cigarette, which was hot enough to vaporize the teflon into its base components, and he got a dose of fluorine gas. And that was it. He got sicker than shit within an hour, ambulance came and take him away. Never came back. He didn't die but he was done with the job. We use to make Teflon at my plant site and heard of stories about "teflon flu" Rules were you were not allowed to take your cigarettes in the area of the Teflon and one guy left his open soft pack of cigs in his front shirt pocket. He took a smoke break and went out for a smoke ,then there were two sick people. One of the sick guys bummed a smoke from the Teflon guy. Banned often |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78268007 New Zealand 10/07/2022 12:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My knee jerk reaction is that these 'EVs are dangerous' crowd are like horse owners when the gas powered automobile came along, screaming how unsafe cars are because they can - and do - catch fire...yet all these years later we still drive these same types of cars, and accept that they will catch fire, presumably because the risk/reward ration is still firmly in the risk category. I have used LiPo batteries for years (in R/C models) - a similar technology to what is in most EVs - and never had one catch fire on me. Why? Because I obey the safety recommendations, and haven't had a crash severe enough to cause them to catch fire. Of course it does happen, but again the risk/reward profile is in our favor. I'm more concerned at this point in cheap, poorly manufactured/protected batteries in EVs, which will likely result in law suits and - hopefully - more stringent safety measures to mitigate the fundamental risks of these types of batteries. |

Now, in the upcoming Apocalypse, you just stay away from electric cars and anything electric that moves. Also for protection you just have bleach and Vinegar, rubbing alcohol and ammonia which is easy to find, just have a cat, plenty of ammonia in their piss. Mix combinations in a bucket that you have close to entries that you want to secure, the mix you do it upon apocalypse that the zombies want to enter and eat you, and you will have either chlorine gas, chloramine, chloroform and if you mix vinegar and hydrogen peroxide, which you can easy find hydrogen peroxide, you will then have the best internal bleeding defence weapon upon the attack of the zombies in the upcoming apocalypse. |
