Bear Spray Used on a Bear Caught on Camera | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 82403362 United States 12/03/2022 10:45 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We had a brown bear walk into camp one evening and scared the heck out of us but not unusual. The other guys were armed and we tried to deescalate which I did with my flare gun. Popped off at the bear and we all laughed at how fast he turned and flew back to where he came from. |

Also, if anything he may have tried yelling and raising his arm(s) a little more as the bear kept returning to stalk his position. At times it seemed the best was only curious, but this guy doesn’t know that. Assume it’s viewing him as good. It’s not a petting zoo and it’s not a petting zoo type of animal. Using your voice calmly isn’t hurting the situation. Using it loudly can many times help. Using the spray was appropriate. It works very well as you saw. |

Watch the video to learn what to do when you encounter a bear. Quoting: sseess [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] I'm glad to see how to use that. I prolly would have sprayed it too, but that didn’t look like it was e I got aggressive, looked like it wanted to play. To me It is all fine and dandy until you become a bear toy. Achduke |

Not sure what you are trying to say really. A black bear's main diet is berries, fruits, fish, and insects. Sure, they will eat meat, but a bear that young usually eats found flesh. Curiosity at that age is comparable to a cat. The man was backing away and was using calming tones that the bear was honing in on. |

User ID: 80785597 United States 12/03/2022 11:08 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have never seen a bear in the wild except for when I was a little girl. I caught a glimpse of a black bear thru the car window. They say we do have some black bears in Georgia, but other than that one time, I never saw any. We do ride in very rural areas tho and I think I saw the tracks. My neighbor notified me 3 yrs ago that one had been spotted at the back of my pasture but I never saw him. But my pasture is huge and there are many acres I can't observe unless I am there. I would rather deal with bears than diversity |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 83822354 They also charge at full speed when attacking but can attack at any moment for no reason, even when they are in your territory unprovoked. Do not fall for that old saying they are more afraid of you than you are of them. Not all of them will attack for no reason and most are easily spooked off and just make a mess, tear down the fences, get into stuff, eat the garden, looking for food, but sometimes there are mean bad ones that will charge at you in full speed attack out of the blue, (in my case it was in my front yard) and even if you are able to scare or fight them off, they will circle around, stalk you and come back to attack again. |

I think he played the situation well. He was a lot calmer than I would have been. Bears are smart, I wonder if you could look one in the eye and reason with it... wouldn't want to find out! |

When we arrived after 6 hours of bumpy dirt road, several young black bears came out to greet us. They stood walking on their hind legs and tried to smell me and get close to me. I loved them! But then they started pawing at me a bit aggressively, and I fled back into the camper! Bears do go after cubs. |

It has a stronger spray so that you can get the bear before it gets in paws reach but the actual active ingredient is weaker because bears have a much greater reaction to the active ingredient |

Most bears would have been justifiably killed in that situation. The guy played it well. Nobody would have put themselves in that position to sell bear spray, ffs. |
