Ruger security six .357mag
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 84881593

Almost the same......it would be a Ruger GP100 for me.....no magazines to worry about and I can handload ammo to take down a squirrel to a deer without worrying about cycling a slide as in a semiauto.....
 Quoting: peterpeccary

You cycle a slide once when first loading a mag. After you dump the mag the slide stays open in a locked position until you insert the next one and drop the release button. Fun fact. hf
 Quoting: Obi Won

The idea here is that one can download a 357 below what would reliably cycle a slide on a semi auto. Fiddling with velocities always means that one has to compensate with the sights as point of impact changes from point of aim. Hunting squirrels and other small game don’t want to ruin too much meat so lower velocities.

Heckler & Koch VP9B-OR with a Trijicon RMR v2 3.25 MOA and nothing but Underwood 9MM Luger +P+ 90GR. Xtreme Defender Solid Monolithic ammo.
TWICE the wound cavity of ANY 9mm out there plus it's level 3a PBA defeating.

Edit to add additional info.

What he means is: He can lightly("down") hand load a revolver cartridge for smaller critters without worrying about the gun functioning...Fun Fact...
A lightly loaded auto cartridge maynot provide enough recoil for the gun to function %100.

Plus you gotta' chase/find your brass. Brass would become a valuable commodity.

Agreed if had to would use 38 special solids and aim for the head. Haven’t hunted squirrels in awhile and never with a handgun.

I would go with the Glock 7. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. It doesn't show up on your airport X-ray machines, and it cost more than you make in a month.

Agreed, we have a Beretta, might have to hit something 10 times, but, eventually they'll fall.

For animals, which no one is really considering if shtf, I'm thinking a larger caliber.

.357 mag,wheel,6 inch.Ruger or Smith.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18808694

The right answer though more likely able to find 4 or 5 inch ones. Especially for the handloader though because can handle 38 special as well is pretty versatile with factory ammo. 357 with 125 grain bullet still the champ of one shot stops even though cops don’t carry them much at all anymore.

I have one from the 70's that was surplused when the cops shifted to semi-auto.

Nope.. each country in UK has different laws..

In england and Wales there is multiple legal loopholes to own handguns... and more or less any rifle but some only in certain calibres.. and shotguns..

in Northern Ireland you can own anything..

Scotland is strict.. Just shotguns if you can get a Firearm's licence...
