Thanks, Doc!

Looks like the 1-star tards are busy. They probably miss the irony of awarding stars to an astronomy thread.

Are those satellites continually moving from upper right part of center to lower left part?

Faint and regular. Are those Starlinks?

Looks like they will do the double dip skipped re-entry method this time. Same as with Apollo 4 but apparently never repeated afterwards. Later Apollo did a steeper entry with a single continuous deceleration and not the first high 7g peek, zero g again and then 3g cycle. Now waiting for the debunking...

Do you think we'll be able to eyeball the re-entry from AZ? I was under the impression it's splashing down off the Baja peninsula, but wasn't sure if it was coming down over CONUS or if it was coming in over the Pacific.

The last time I was able to eyeball one of ours coming in was STS-107 Columbia, and that was a morning I'll never forget.

Thanks. I didn't realize it was a time lapse. At first I just watched the middle of the video for a few seconds.

I guess it pays to actually watch the video to know what is happening. :)

Are we getting pictures/video from onboard?

What the planet looks like from out there?

Wrong.

Please watch this video. I've been tracking it since launch and verified that it did indeed not only get to space but left earth orbit for the moon. I thought you were smarter than this Noticed.

Not so "wow"....

Happy 50 years Apollo 17

Apollo 17 lifted off on Dec. 7, 1972.
Final moonwalking mission launched 50 years ago today
It has now been 50 years since astronauts last launched to the moon.

I came. I saw. I Concorde.

For once you have tasted Concorde you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards, for there you have been and there you will long to return.

I wish the Artemis program wasn't so heavily delayed, but at least it's making progress. We have the equivalent of the Apollo 4 and Apollo 6 mission rolled into one here, and unlike Apollo 6 this one is going pretty smoothly.
