Tracking Artemis I in Deep Space

Using 20" telescopes I was able to track Artemis I in deep space this past week and measure its distance from earth directly with parallax. I was also able to independently determine its orbit and verify the appearance and relative sizes of the earth and moon were exactly as expected during the occultation of earth by the moon as seen from the Orion spacecraft back on November 28th. This means I've been able to track the spacecraft from launch, after TLI and now in the DRO orbit it has around the moon before starting its return to earth.

I might film the close pass if the weather allows, but I'm not planning to fire up any remote telescopes for it. I've blown a fair bit worth of scope time on Artemis I so far.

I don't get why NASA makes you do all of these calculations yourself. Why don't they just let you type in your coordinates and run the equations for you? Have they ever done this?

Doing it myself is kind of the point though. I enjoy running the numbers myself. Sure, I can just go on NASA's JPL site and put in my location's coordinates and find out what the current distance to Orion is, but that would defeat the point. I want to collect my own observations and independently determine the orbit of Orion myself and independently measure the distance of Orion myself. There's a certain magic to me in seeing it all come together to get to the answer and finding out that the answer agrees with what NASA said it would be.

So we sent a craft to orbit the moon for 20 days or so & then fly back ? Do we eventually get to see the pictures of all the apparent structures on the side facing us & the crazy shit that must be around on the Dark Side ? Or will this be the equivalent of a Galactic Beyond Meat Burger.

If you haven't been paying attention you've been missing out, but I don't know what you mean by "structures." I have observed the moon through telescopes for years and have yet to find artificial structures visible to a telescope. The Orion spacecraft has a GoPro cameras at the end of each solar array. They've been returning some amazing images, like what I showed in my video, but they're not capable of high magnification views. They also have some navigation camera images that are higher magnification but less aesthetically pleasing for the most part since that's not the purpose.
