Best Route to Shangrila? China, India, or Other?
There's an entrance in Shigatse, Tibet, and one in Yunnan province.

India has links with Shamballah.

There's also a school of thought that says, you can go from anywhere. I'm talking about walking in physically.

Once I get some rest, I can assist topsiders... but on my terms, not theirs.

The current plan is to fly to either China or India, I think.

That's the problem with the Lollow Earth. You don't know where you are welcome, and where you are not.

I am unwelcome in many places, grudgingly welcome, through gritted-teeth-politeness, in many many more. I don't want to go to places like that.

Is there any place I am truly able to rest? I need a tree, a lake, and a Github connection.

India seems like a contender for True Rest... and looking back, I saw how people, foreigners and locals, did their best to assist me in Kunming, even in difficult times.

Maybe it'll be better now

And maybe I could solve the puzzle from Taiwan itself.

Actually the quickest and most direct for that city would be Mexico, not Asia.

I flew into kunming and travelled north to tiger leaping gorge. From there its a bus ride of a day or two.. Check out li jiang. Its a world heritage site, and basically a beautiful replica of an old Chinese city. Amazing little place, reminded me of a Chinese Disneyland. Get a lonely planet for southwest China.

Really?

Interesting. is that under the DF?

I was in Mexico a few hundred years ago.

I tried the same thing I have attempted here.

Not enough people listened. All I remember is walking down the beach, in a rage, as usual, calling them every name under the Sun. Swearing at them in Aztec, or whatever guttural language they spoke. Then climbing into a boat, or USO, or something, and leaving.

Just a vague daydream memory.

But yes, I get on with Mexicans usually.

I speak intermediate Spanish.

OK...

So..

First come first served.

If any group send someone to Danshui, I'll talk to them.

Im just wondering if I have to get on a plane to succeed, or unlock the door from Taipei.

The local Taipei ones are (i think) trying to string out this period as long as they possibly can, so I will have to go with another group. India and SW China are more enthusiastic about assisting.

Sounds awesome!

That's what I'm planning to do. I know those towns well.

Dali looks lush. Then there's Tenchong, or where-ever. i met a girl from Lijiang.

I was in Kunming for 8 months. Really enjoyed it, considering I was having a difficult time. It'll be much better now I'm reasonably string and healthy.

I'm just trying to figure out the difference between the India and China entrances.

Hmm. If I was you I think you have to do both. Travel West and then Eaast then straight back home to Taiwan.

Journey to the West style maybe?

I was thinking that the Lijiang/Dali area would be the perfect place to trial an open source software project.

The Yunnan minorities, and the local Han mixed bloods, would listen.

hmmmmm.

I just need one place, TBH.

I'm tired of jumping through their hoops.

I want to build software and play guitar... All else is icing.

The people who took me on my "Process" in Taiwan didn't even like me, ffs. What a drag.

Being dragged up the mountains by your ears by a bourgeois simpleton who secretly hates you.

Is that the "purification process"? You go walking in the hills with secret society catamites who are fake-smiling, and crossing their fingers you fall off a ledge? How is that purification? haha.

SE Asia is home, but not specifically Taiwan. I want to travel the whole region.

I stayed on dal lake too, a room above a restaurant. I liked that whole area, very clean and civilized.

best way?

Go to the nearest deep cave you can find. Bring a flashlight and start walk inside. Destroy the lamp after you come too far to find your way out without it.

Continue using you senses/arms.

Hint: You wont come out the same way you entered, maybe not even the same continent. (keep your intent/or believe in god(s))

Hint2: This is how they travelled between america and asia antediluvian times. (have read some interpretations of old texts)

Hint3: I havent tried but think it works. (dont have the balls, lost one in a severe accident)

For me was Mt Shasta.

Took awhile to find "natives" to trust what I was saying/believing, and guide me to a "right" path...

Undercity was legit.

But ultimately, I'm a topsider with just an adventurer vibe.

Once bitten, twice shy.

Maybe someday things will change...

Have no desire to live under such rules, as good as they are.

Wild West is the best! and natural sunlight to boot!

I think it is best a direct fly plus all inclusive package from Ryanair.

Seriously op...there is no actual shangrila. Just some hamlet in remote high valleys around high pick mountains. You can find such places in Pakistan, India etc.

Just a mix of fertile soil, pure high mineral mountsin sorinf watwr, microclimate ..and food from free grazing animals.

Went to 香格里拉市 (Shangri-la) 20 years ago while touring Chinese Tibet.

In fact the Chinese authorities renamed the city that way to attract more tourists.

I spent days asking the locals about that name, about whether they knew about the story of Shangri-la or an entrance to a underground city and nobody had ever heard about any of it.

China renaming that city Shangri-la was 100% a marketing move

Other than that Yunnan is a beautiful region and I feel privileged to have witnessed the Shangri-la Horse race festival with all the locals.

Also spent 6 months in Taiwan and loved it too, but very different setting.
