Played football, baseball, wrestled, + collegiate rugby all during 70's, 80's and 90's. Never saw a young athlete collapse on the field due to heart attack.

My nephew graduated ROTC and is headed into infantry officer training. He held out but they made him get the shot for air assault school.

17 year old Blaze Jacobs' eyes (middle link) remind me of the good friend, and dive and rock climbing buddy that I lost at that same age. His was the only death in my school (other than one girl who was born with Spina bifida and outlived that disease's life expectancy) in all of my childhood years and up until college.
But my 18 year old friend was killed in a freak car accident driving home from school alone senior year, when he pulled out in front of a loaded pulpwood truck that he didn't see, despite being the safest, slow driver in the school.

He was an only child and good ole country boy, like Blaze looks like he could be also, and my friend's mom never got over the loss of her one angel child.

Hunter Brown was a sophomore (second year) student at the United States Air Force Academy, which does not have a vaccine mandate for students. The Department of Defense only had a vaccine mandate for service members, not cadets.
