My Volvos were built like a Tank but made like a fine Swiss watch. Volvo is Now owned by a China Company and will be an all-electric brand by 2030. I personally don't care for the new Volvos. I don't like the look, the price, the design and direction of the Company. Someone change my mind as I liked Volvo back in the day. Soundman |

That got people who were terrible drivers to by them to stay safe. Now Volvo is owned by the CCP. So, if you are a terrible driver and like the CCP, go buy one if that's what you want to do. I sold my last one when I quite driving in 2009. Loved the old ones....had owned 3. I had a highway patrol man pull me over a long time ago up in the mountains and as I got out my ID et all and was trying to figure out what he pulled me over for,,, it was to talk to me about volvos. I was driving one. True story... but he put down the reason as a high up crack in my windshield. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 85094506 United States 01/23/2023 09:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I bought a22014 against my better judgement as I have never owned a 'luxury' car. It is built extremely well and is super nice to ride in. That being said, if I could not fix cars myself, I would NEVER buy one ! Ridiculously expensive to get fixed. I fixed an issue in mine in 3 hrs time and $75 in parts. Very same repair by dealership to someone else with same car was over $5000 ! Yes, thousand |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78685945 United States 01/23/2023 09:24 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The older ones were good. Safe, and ran great. But they are a bitch to work on, and parts are expensive. My elderly neighbor had the starter go on his mid 80's model. I said I would change it out for her. Done it on several other vehicles before. Usually pretty easy. 15-20min job. I thought "How hard could it be?" Well, it was ridiculous. Had to remove the transmission cross member just to get to it. And needed a swivel bit to remove the bolts. Needed to be a contortionist to get the damn thing out. Never again. |

I think it was a quality, safety status symbol that said "I'm smart and I know quality and I want a safe car for my family that will run forever and I read Consumer Reports" statement. I don't know but one person who drives a Volvo now. I have not purchased Consumer Reports in many years. Wonder what Consumer Reports now says about Volvo? Soundman |

Figure out the environment your going to drive in first because if you by a city car and live in a snowy or offroad area. The cost of maintence is going to be high and a waste of time. Esp if it is going to fit in the parking garage. 2. Read the car reviews first. Otberwise your getting a shity version of volvo. I've see enough shitty versions of BMWs as much as Volvo. 3. Look up maintence cost of said certain model, specifically basic parts of the car like tire, light bulbs or oil. 4. Learn to maintain your car daily like type of oil require for changes because buying new parts for cars is more costly than buying oil. 5. Don't drive like a maniac. It reduce car longevity. Smooth and slowly is the it should go. 6. Don't let you friends or anyone drive your car unless you truly trust them. Crashing a Volvo is actually very costly. |
