I've always needed my "quiet" time at the end of the day, while raising my kids and working full time etc. It was a matter of sitting out on the back deck, listening to the night sounds......... self reflection. I've had many epiphanies during such times. Some people call such as meditation; I always called it "going within." At this point in my life, I'm pretty much always "within." I actually have to go "withOUT" to get out my within, lol. In a nutshell, I would state it like this: Being centered in your heart space, listening to your inner thoughts, and your intuition. Love your Creator and love others, before self-preservation. |

A secular way is: Be in a quiet room, with no disturbances. Sit in a comfortable chair. Maybe start by looking out the window, look at the trees, the sky, etc. Then close your eyes and just relax- think of nothing. You will find that, after a few minutes you are FEELING. Feeling your body, your mind. Thoughts will drift in, you will ponder these. This is very relaxing and you can learn much about yourself. I am a Christian, so I go within on a spiritual level as well as the above. I do formal prayer every morning (praise, thanksgiving, intercession prayers for myself, others, the world.) Almost every day, while doing my morning prayer I sometimes find that I have stopped my prayers and I am in a peaceful, calm state- almost trance like. I eventually regain myself and finish my prayers. This is how I start my day, EVERY day. During the day (most days) I do not have the time to pray for twenty minutes as I do in the morning but many times during the day I will at least for a minute here, a minute there- offer up a prayer. One thing I am ashamed to admit is that most nights I do not offer up prayer. I DO do this a couple nights a week, but I SHOULD do this every night. I hope the Lord understands that I am very tired at the end of the day. I have multiple health issues so many nights I am exhausted. Hope this all helps. |
