Operation Flying Tomato Can - Sept. 13, 1985 an F15A shot down a US satellite
Yes. 37 years ago, an F15, using an ASM-135 missile, destroyed a satellite, at an altitude of 345 miles above the Pacific, non-explosively, from 38,000 feet.

"Pearson, an Air Force test pilot, flew his F-15A from Edwards AFB, Calif., to a point some 200 miles west of Vandenberg AFB, Calif. Then, while traveling at Mach 1.2, he pitched the fighter upward into a precise 65-degree climb, in the process pulling 3.8Gs."

But, but, in 2023 resident xiden waited for his friend's balloon to pass entirely over Canada and ConUS and reach the Atlantic before popping it with not much hope of recovering debris/evidence.

Can’t take them seriously that Montana was too populated an area to shoot it down. Only the second least densely populated state in the union. I guess when China flies it’s stealth bomber over us next will just watch so the bomber doesn’t maybe land in a populated area. Wtf is this lgbt military doing?

Oh dear! Let's find a way to make this all about Trump. Stat!

Fail.

"The revelation startled Mark Esper, the former president's own Secretary of Defense, who said he was never made aware of such incidents"

Oh.

"According to a senior Pentagon official, three balloons made it into the US during the Trump years, but never for as long as the one that recently flew across the country."

This is known as 'hearsay' in UK. Doesn't stand up in court.

Remember, the military is now filled with LGNTQBBQ and racially handicapped people. Their level of competence is right around that of a landlocked Navy. Expect major blunders, oversights and downright incompetence as these untermensch are put to the test.

Absolutely agree. What are we getting out of Space Force for $10,000,000/day? For that kind of money, they should be able to just go up there and grab it with a tractor beam and put it wherever they want! I guess we should be gratetful it's less than NASAs 25 million a day budget. Which brings up another point...where were they in all this?

You get GPS, SAR, SBIRS/missile warning, UHF, SHF, and EHF SATCOM. Deconfliction of all orbiting satellites, weather, and intelligence.

Putting satellites in orbit ain’t cheap. Running ground stations for satellites ain’t cheap either.

The Air Force, Army, and Navy all have ASAT capabilities.

NASA has no jurisdiction over the airspace except for launch restricted areas. In those areas the Air Force and Navy have the defensive roles.
