The numbers of instant dead have to be way higher than that. Minimum of 50k at the lowest. Many more people will die from exposure and starvation in the aftermath.

Population of the region it was around 10 million.

Say 1000 apartment buildings in central Turkey collapsed. This is a low estimate. Say each building housed 20 families. Say each family has 4 people. Again all of these are on the lower estimates. 1000 x 20 x 4 is 80,000. That would be 80,000 dead instantly.
