Well, one fix would be man-made harbors along the coast, not everywhere just some going down the coasts, this could be done. The only way to fix the soil is by adding nutrients from around the world until it can be brought up to where it can survive from trees and other plants that grow fast, and that need less water and nutrients. Rivers need to have some work to make them deeper in areas and those waterfalls are perfect for creating energy but they need the knowledge and companies willing to work on it for little return for a while. You can create harbors, man has been doing this for a long time, and killing insects as those flies well that sure is doable.

All you need is the countries agreeing to work with outsiders.
You have the material to make small islands by taking the material from the coasts leveling to make harbors. Water can be routed to other areas also, we know this, it has been done even in South America a long time ago. The creation of forests is also possible, nothing is impossible if you put some work into it. You can help them get fresh water by doing nothing more than drilling well, this has been done by some Church groups over the years, the water is underground, they just need wells.

From what I have read, part of Africa to the east is breaking off more and more from the rest of Africa for some time now.

Man needs something to do for challenges and this one would be a challenge with the rewards of helping people plus moving the mountains so to speak, and making the deserts bloom. The minerals and other things would make Africans rich also the people that put their knowhow to good use.

"Developement" is killing us and the earth, living with and on nature isn't a bad thing. If everything else collapsed worldwide this still living in tents/huts hunting and growing their own food will be for the most part unaffected.

Weather, when you only have to hunt/gather year round, there is really no need to get smarter in order to invent and plan ahead for harsh winters. You just need to stay slightly smarter than the surrounding animals and you can rule. Simple really.

The African men work hard sun up to sun down mining, fields etc and the women take care of the kids, food etc. The way American society is, laziness and entitlement attitude applies to all races, there are plenty of whites collecting ssi and foodstamps living off the government. The poor white population(which is also riddled with crime) is often ignored. The same way the black population that works and are decent himan beings get ignored.

Persians also don't have a great navy and shipbuilding tradition. Even now Iran's navy is crap ass.

Also, back then Admiral Zheng He of China way before Ottomans conquered Constantinople also had no interest in colonizing swathes of Africa, so the Africans remained isolated without much contact with great world powers until the Europeans came en masse in the 19th century.
