Anonymous Coward User ID: 82759749 United States 06/08/2023 10:34 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Mensa is just a a bunch of nonsense anyway. Think about it. Tests developed by smart people, but exceptionally smart people cannot have the depth of intelligence tested for by tests. What if they exceed them? Who would know? And most brilliant people trade one or more social skill, more or less, to be brilliant. And if you are truly intelligent, you come to the same conclusion: simplicity is best. Being a dishwasher, a janitor or just a cattle hand keeps the destructive and predatory inquisitors at bay. Truly brilliant people realize and calculate that if they actually continuously beat their head against a wall with others trying to help humanity, they will be destroyed or destroy others in the process. Mensa isn’t a intellectual bastion, it’s a stupid arbitrary status symbol for those who want people to know they are smart. Think tanks, scientific communities , it’s all a game. Live in nature and live in peace. That is what truly smart people do. Virtue signaling is actually intellectually dumb. And smart people avoid the crowd. |

No, you're really just ignorant on this topic. It's been researched and proven that if you wanted to pick the best dishwasher or janitor...you will likely do it by picking the highest IQ person. IQ correlates to success in almost all professions. |

Quoting: BFD Ya. i wonder about that. always felt like i was just good at test taking...i knew i wasn't dumb, but never felt that smart either. Smart just means you have general intelligence, like you can solve puzzles faster than most and see solutions to problems that are lost on the rest. You can learn new things faster than the average bear, no matter which situation you're placed in. It doesn't preclude one from being a totally brainwashed zombie though, apparently. It was very brief. Went to one meeting and it was boring as all hell. They had some meetings at some fun burger bars that I use to go to. But yeah if you don't go to the meetings or the parties then there's not much to do. |

Well here is the question I've always asked...FASTER If you answer 135 questions and get 130 right in 90 minutes. Are you 'more intelligent' than a guy that took 180 minutes, but he answered 140 with 0 wrong? ...only they cut him off after 90 mintues...so he didn't finish the test? |

I've considered this as well... that's a tough one. Da Vinci is my hero... so I'm a quality over quantity guy at heart. My take is this: If someone can answer 140 right in 180 minutes but there's the guy that can do 140 right in 90... the 90 minute guy is obviously superior. That said, both are very bright.
