QAnon, Conspiracy Theories, and Schizophrenia
The attraction of individuals with schizophrenia or other mental illnesses to conspiracy theories, like those of QAnon, is not just a coincidence; it's a predictable outcome of several psychological and social dysfunctions:

Cognitive Biases and Patterns: People with schizophrenia are often trapped in cognitive biases and distorted thought patterns, making them prime targets for conspiracy theories. They're prone to seeing connections where none exist (apophenia) and interpreting random events as deeply personal (ideas of reference). These flawed cognitive processes make the convoluted and secretive world of conspiracy theories irresistibly appealing to them.

Social Isolation and Community Seeking: Many of these individuals are plagued by social isolation or a profound sense of being outcasts. They gravitate towards online conspiracy communities as a desperate attempt to find belonging and acceptance, something they're starved of in the real world.

Trust and Authority Issues: Schizophrenia and similar mental disorders often breed paranoia and a deep-seated distrust of established sources of authority and information. Conspiracy theories exploit this distrust, positioning themselves as the 'underdog' truth against mainstream lies.

Need for Explanation and Control: Mental illness can throw someone into a world of confusion, fear, and helplessness. Conspiracy theories provide these individuals with a false sense of clarity and control over the chaos, offering them straightforward, though deeply flawed, explanations for the complexities of global events.

Internet and Social Media Influence: The internet, especially social media platforms and forums like GLP and 4chan, acts as a catalyst, intensifying exposure and engagement with conspiracy theories. Their algorithms prey on strong emotional responses, especially those related to conspiracy content, ensnaring individuals with mental health issues who are already prone to cognitive distortions.

Validation of Personal Experiences: For some, these conspiracy theories resonate with their personal narratives, echoing their feelings of persecution, delusions of grandeur, or deep-rooted mistrust.

There are two kinds of people on conspiracy forums

People who take what CNN and corporate news says as their measure of reality are called normies.

That's you, shit for brains. A CNN true believer.

People who question FAKE NEWS and reject corporate ready-made reality are called "conspiracy theorists," aka Qtards.

Fucks like you are normie, establishment bitches, because you too fucking stupid to question your matrix corporate reality.

You hate conspiracy because you are an establishment suck up

I wonder if mental illness can be caused by a nocebo effect… a self fulfilling prophecy. Although not all of them since some of the illnesses are genetic.

To be clear, this isn't an attempt to ridicule those with schizophrenia or other severe mental illness. Those are a heavy burden and not a laughing matter. On the contrary, in fact, it's to shine light on the methods currently being used to manipulate them in hopes that they, and/or their loved ones can understand them, and potentially seek help for them.

Slowly progressing schizophrenia was also used in the USSR. And if this thread isn't meant to mock those with a mental illness, there are certainly enough on this site that are.

Yep

Attempts to diagnose them with odd

People who were never oppositional or defiant against rules set by the sane majority

Now the rules are set by an insane minority who label those opposing their absurdities and atrocities (“public health”, pornographic sex ed for way inappropriate age children, trans agenda, complete shirking of personal responsibility, threatening and silencing anyone against them etc etc)

Gen Z and Gen Alpha will probably grow up to be the generation that finally understands mental illness, how to treat it, why people need mental health support, etc. our future is in their hands, so hopefully they will push for more social changes to give people the health support that they need.

Or maybe, it's because conspiracy theories and about everything else makes more sense than the narrative being told by the media and white house (where the real mental illness exist).

And what exactly does any of that have to do with so called conspiracy theories most of which have been proven true

I’m sure they will understand mental illness, since so many of them are mentally ill

Those who said that the response to a planned pandemic would cause a mass formation psychosis and break the psyches of children were viewed as conspiracy theorists…at first

What better way to force a group into silence than to convince them they are mentally ill?

We have seen enough conspiracy theory become conspiracy FACT in the last decade to know better.
