Satan's Name is NOT Lucifer You Dumbasses
The name Lucifer only appears once in the bible. "How art thou fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning" (Isaiah 14:12).

The verse refers to an arrogant king of Babylon who intended to ascend to Heaven to set his throne above the stars of God. Saint Jerome (circa 342-420 C.E.)-noting that Isaiah uses the epithet "day star," that Satan is seen to "fall like lightning from Heaven" (Luke 17:18), and that the Latin word Lucifer means "light-bearer" -incorrectly interpreted the verse to mean that Satan and Lucifer were one and the same. English poet John Milton popularized this misinterpretation in 1667 in his epic poem Paradise Lost in which Satan is also named Lucifer.

Do synonyms of "light bearer" count?

The Bible elsewhere identifies Satan with the serpent in this story. In Revelation 12:9 and 20:2, he is called "that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan." Did he appear to Eve in the form of a talking snake? Probably not.

The Hebrew word translated "serpent" in the above passage is נחש (nachash). In addition to "serpent," this Hebrew root word has several other possible meanings. It can be used as a noun to mean "one who practices divination," or "shining brass." However, nachash can also be used as an adjective to mean "bright" or "brazen."

In Genesis 3, it is likely that nachash is an adjective being used as a noun. If that is the case, the proper translation of hanachash in Genesis 3 would be "the bright one" or "the shining one." This understanding of nachash fits in very well with Paul's description of Satan appearing as an "angel of light" (II Cor. 11:14).

Of course, I guess this has to do with what version of the bible you read and how much Hebrew you know.

Re: Satan's Name is NOT Lucifer You Dumbasses
lucifer means simple light in latin it does not mean light bringer but and light or thing with a light brings light and the poster of this thread is absolutly right and the story of "satan" is not in the Bile at all and the Greek word is Satanas and Satanas is what? its not Luficer and its not Devil the Word satanas means sword double edged to be exact and a satanas is a True catster and the word true caster is the word used in the story where Jesus is visiter by the Devil in his trip to the wilderness to fast but it is the greek word Deablos not devil so in this stroy if you look up the true greek words todescribe the temptation in the wilderness used they are theee in this stroy

1 True Caster and Jesus casted the spell of Truth as spell means words and jesus was in fac the logos and logos means "word" and Reason meakns Logos so true caster = reason

2 Diablos it means rebal and Jesus was a Rebal

3 Satanas measn double edges sword = duality and also Satanas is another name for the Sanhedron = Jewish council who condemed Jesus to be crucified turned over to Pilate these are the Naza = Nazarites = Nazi of the tribe of Levites who Are Judges set up by Ezra

When scientist describe a lightning bug the word lucifarian is used its meaning is light

Also you may remeber an article post here some moths bak on Red Ice creations stateing scientist discover man glows in the dark just as all cave dwelling creatures do so who is Lucifer but the one that glows it is non other than you

Jesus called the pharasee liers children of their father Diablos the father of lies for they rebeld againt truth and nature mans true nature egoless self is the truth and they rebeled against it for lie for they are Judges and Lawyer teachers of laws and Jesus said "Woe to Them"

Let this be the sign of Jonah for you that the Christ has returned

Re: Satan's Name is NOT Lucifer You Dumbasses
It´s quite simple actually. There´s Lucifer who does his work for us. Gives us knowledge, spirituality, art and more. The other one is the dark one, who wants to keep us in the matter and to talk us out of spirituality. He is Ahriman. Both have their tasks, only when they exaggerate and want us for themselvs and play God, then they are naughty!
We have to stand in the middle of them. We need both, but not overdo it. It is about balance and harmony.

There is Sorat the really Evil bastard, he wants to eat your soul by taking away your ego and higher.

Did you even read the original post? This is what I gathered

Simple answer: English poet John Milton popularized this misinterpretation in 1667 in his epic poem Paradise Lost in which Satan is also named Lucifer.

Complex answer: Saint Jerome misinterpreted the name in his passage

Satan is not a person or a name. Technically it is a verb and description that means 'one who opposes', so right off the bat your topic makes no sense notwithstanding the now common use of the word as a noun in biblical translations.

Re: Satan's Name is NOT Lucifer You Dumbasses
Satan is a FRAUD perpetrated by malignants and Jews...

Satani or Satanil was a real person who fought valiantly against the malignant Psychopath.

Satan or Satuni was a leader of a group of "Highlanders" or Mountain people.

The Lullubian ruler Satuni was a contemporary of Naram-Sin (2254-2218 BCE) from Akkad, who defeated the Lullubians.

Kanishba, king of Simurrum, instigated his people and the Lullubians to rebel against Erridu-pizir king of Gutium, according to the latter’s inscription (extant only in an Old Babylonian copy).

The center of Erridu-pizir’s arena of operations in Simurrum and Lullubum is a place named Madga.

[link to www.iranicaonline.org]

Lullubum appears in historical times as one of the lands Sargon the Great subjugated within his Akkadian Empire, along with the neighboring province of Gutium to the south.

Sargon's grandson Naram Sin defeated the Lullubi and their king Satuni, and had his famous victory stele made in commemoration. After the Akkadian Empire fell to the Gutians, the Lullubians rebelled against the Gutian king Erridupizir, according to the latter's inscriptions.

So who was the REAL Satan? The guy with horns on his head?

Stele of Naram-Sin...Shows the Totalitarian Psychopath Naram-Sin murdering the Lulubi people.

The Lulubi leaders abandon their outpostleaving many behind to suffer at the hands of the miscreant.

2 Diablos it means rebal and Jesus was a Rebal
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I disagree.

Diabolos - means to throw "through or across"? Which I believe is to "cast aspersions or dispersions"

Aspersions -
1. a damaging or derogatory remark or criticism; slander : casting aspersions on a campaign rival. 2. the act of slandering; vilification; defamation.

Dispersions -

Confound, Corrupt, Confuse, Occlude, Convoluted.

The act or process of dispersing : the state of being dispersed

Synonyms
disbandment, dispersal, scattering, dissipation

Related Words
diffusion, dissemination; breakup, dissolution, disunion, separation, split

In Genesis 3, it is likely that nachash is an adjective being used as a noun. If that is the case, the proper translation of hanachash in Genesis 3 would be "the bright one" or "the shining one." This understanding of nachash fits in very well with Paul's description of Satan appearing as an "angel of light" (II Cor. 11:14).

Of course, I guess this has to do with what version of the bible you read and how much Hebrew you know.

Very well put, I also read a comment that the references to Lucifer in the dead sea scrolls was absent or referring to a fallen king of Babylon. I understand the dead sea scrolls are altering people's understanding of the Holy Bible however deception is thick and has been for a very limited by time people are "ever learning and never coming to the truth." But that's my two sense on the whole problem.
