Christians should honour their goverments if they adapt christian and Jewish laws. But if the goverment goes against the Commandments then we should do something about it.

What are the odds it is not a tool used by those in control to manipulate the population and keep them in line? Why wouldn't they do that?

I think that's a horrible thing to do to people as there ARE amazing spiritual things in this Universe! No question!
But going to a church or the handy dandy bible or govt. provides us with as our "national religion of choice" is like watching NBC (or any other MSM network) and thinking they are actualy reporting true, unbiased events to you because it's in your best interest.
I'm not just saying this of Christianity. I beleive all organized religion has lots of elements of this.
The Buddists seem to be the most realistic, but higher beings do not need men to organize our relationship with them!!!
