Quoting: Anonymous Coward 886477Yes, actually that's exactly what I told my husband to do when he was overheard by the helper at the store. The helper said it could be turned on us, so I'm not sure I want the headache. Just wondering if anyone had actually had it happen and what the result of their actions were. The bank will make you fill out an FBI form telling where you got the fake money, plus your personal information. Then you sit there and wait forever. I felt like they were calling the FBI to see if I had a criminal record or something. Who knows? This is what Chase Bank (then Bank One) did to me when I attempted to deposit $50 I had gotten at a flea market. If I had known it was fake I sure wouldn't have tried to deposit the damn thing. Never heard any more about it, but most likely would have if I had ever again tried to deposit a counterfeit bill so now I am really careful about any currency I come across ---get one of the marker pens, but know that after a while they don't work anymore and need to be replaced. |

I received a counterfeit $20 bill from a Wachovia/ Wells Fargo in South Philly. I made a teller withdraw, got my cash and left. Then walked up to the check cashing place to pay a utility and was told my bill was fake. I took it back to the bank, thinking they could trace what bills I was given, and the bottom line is- screwed outta 20 bucks. |

About a week later went to gas station to get gas and beer. The cashier marked it with the pen and that passed but then tried to deposit it into their safe and it wouldn't take. She says "if the machine won't take it I'm not keeping it". I was pissed off and determined to find out if the bill was fake. I took it to the grocery store next door and bought my stuff there and used the self-check out machine. The bill took just fine and gave me my change no problems. I went back to the gas station to get my gas and to vent @ cashier lol. Wonder if it really was fake, lol. It seems the machine wouldn't take it if it wasn't a good bill. Otherwise those are some shitty ass machines. |

The purpose of the U.S. military should be to defend the United States. Period. Yet, one of the greatest myths ever invented is that the current U.S. military somehow defends our freedoms. First of all, our freedoms are not in danger of being taken away by foreign countries; if they are taken away it will be by our own government. It is not a country making war on us that we need to fear, it is our government making war on the Bill of Rights. And second, how is stationing troops in 150 different regions of the world on hundreds of U.S. military bases defending our freedoms? It is not the purpose of the U.S. military to change regimes, secure the borders of other countries, or spread democracy at gunpoint. The Department of Defense should first and foremost be the Department of Homeland Security."--Laurence Vance-- |
