(OP) Forum Administrator 07/01/2010 11:46 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | This is an important figure...why?...because the Federal Gov't under the clean water act alone can levy a fine of 4,300 per bbl leaked...tally so far at 140 million gallons?.... $14,333,331,900 If I am not mistaken the cap on the maximum was lifted in 2005?...if not...I'm sure an exectutive order can remove that mere speed bump... We may only be halfway this nightmare...the totals will give the Federal govt the muscle to destroy and takeover BP in the US....and you want them to...don't you.... ____________________________________________________ E-mail anytime [email protected] Inquiring about a ban?, include the IP address found here. And all I see for strapping is a piece of prefab iron holding the fins down? There must be more than that , I must not see it? |

And all I see for strapping is a piece of prefab iron holding the fins down? There must be more than that , I must not see it? It's all pretty rugged thick steel...the cap might take some dents and dings...but I doubt the flange will...I am more concerned with the connection to the cap and the riser attached to it...I did see a little leak there the other night...like a weld was failing....this beatin cannot be good for that...if they have to haul it up for repairs...it'll be a fairly long operation...not sure of they have a back up cap to plug right in...but if I were running the show?...I would have had one on standby made as soon as this proved it was working ok enough to use... Pretty sure the only thing holding it down is the system above it...which has more than enough weight...it's suspended off the ship...but I'm sure the wieght of the 5,000' long riser system has got to be 20lbs per ft so 100,000lbs easy....that's plenty of down force to have at their disposal...it also has sliding sections...and it will flex as well so all that mass won't be bumping the top of the BOP...they have a strain gage..."Scale" for all intensive purposes keeping a constant eye on the weight suspended...if they see it all of a sudden losing 10,000lbs of suspended wieght?...they know the system is "resting" most of that where it shouldn't be and they pull up... Quoting: Free StoreWatching the rocking and the fins on one side go way up I say this is it Time to relax a bit and not constantly watch for a mishap...The bop itself is the weak link. OK. Lot of wave action today...I'm sure the whole thing is a real bitch to control right now...gap opening and closing...obvious that they aren't at a good collection rate now..lots of oil bypass...they can't have the pumps too high or they'll suck in water and freeze off...with the cap bucking like a horse I'm sure they want to be a little high in the saddle rather than have it clobber the flange on the bottom...so that means larger gap...more chance to suck water...so pump rates down... ____________________________________________________ E-mail anytime [email protected] Inquiring about a ban?, include the IP address found here. This one had a big number "4" painted on it when it was installed. |

If they do, I can assure you that money will line the pockets in Washington and the people along the coastal areas will see nothing but suffering and oil for years to come. |
