Film recommendations?

Memento's amazing, I also liked Fracture, Red, Death Proof, and Lucky Number Slevin. Haven't yet seen Shoot 'Em Up or Empire of the Sun, but I'll add them - Empire looks great. Thanks! :)

Greg, you delight me :-D I'll have to figure out a way to watch it. It'll be a long time before I get around to reading any new fantasy as it is - I'm a bit burned out on it at the moment :)

If you really, really, really want to delight yourself...acquire and watch all 7 seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hang in there through season 1, only 12 eps, and start to cry tears of joy by mid season 2 that you've finally found the perfect television series.

I just finished The Stand about a month or so ago. Loved it. Possibly my favorite of King's, though it's a tough call between that and Dark Tower.

Great Expectations is pretty righteous - haven't read it since high school, though. I remember liking it :) I'll have to check out Gods of Eden & The Witching Hour - they both sound pretty damn good :)

I've heard tons of great things about Buffy over the years, so I watched a few episodes of the first season and wasn't terribly impressed - guess I'll have to go back and tough it out :)

Yes I was afraid my heart was going to stop (on its own) waiting for the current book to be released. I'm not a young man. At the current rate the series will be finished around the year 2027.

The Witching Hour is absolutely awesome. It makes the Vampire Chronicles look childish and silly.

That was another thing that kept me waiting on the books - that Martin is apparently such a slow writer. Obviously quality takes time, but isn't it usually something like five years between books or something? Crazy :)

I'm already waiting for Brandon Sanderson to finish writing The Way of Kings books because I can't stand reading only part of a series - I guess I'm impatient when it comes to books :) Luckily Sanderson is a prolific little bastard...

Very interesting. Barnes & Noble has this gorgeous hardcover of the first three Vampire Chronicles books, and I picked it up because for one thing, the book itself was gorgeous (I'm a sucker for a pretty book, apparently) and I liked the movie version of Interview with the Vampire. Tried to read it, and ... meh. Witching Hour definitely sounds better :)

If you are looking for something new to read. I suggest you read Joe Abercrombie. His 'First Law' series is complete. I've actually been telling people, after consideration, that he has replaced Tolkien as my favorite writer.

"Sucker Punch" was enjoyable. Lots of great Steampunk visuals. Highly stylized. The Mrs. even liked it.

YES. Abercrombie is AMAZING. Loved the First Law, loved Best Served Cold, loved The Heroes. The man is incredible

Yeah, even I knew to stay away from that one. Oldman's my favorite actor, but ... geesh, that looked bad. And I like a pretty girl as much as the next sane person, but Amanda's a bit on the skinny side for me ;)

Check out a movie called "11:14". It's about a series of incidents in a small town from 5 different perspectives that all meet up at 11:14 pm. Most people never heard of it, but it has an amazing cast (Hillery Swank, Patrick Swayze, Rachael Leigh Cook, Jason Segel). It's one of those movies that stays with you for years.

Every time I hear Drexel, I can't help but think of Superfudge (I know, I'm a dweeb who read too much Judy Blume as a kid...)

Definitely a great movie. I saw that one last year - really very good, and a shame that it didn't get more recognition

"Arthur" got a super crappy rap but I watched it and thought it was wonderful. I really like Russel Brand, might even call it a man-crush, and he was at his Russely best.

I really want to hate Russell Brand, but somehow, I just can't. I thought he was great in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. What about that other one he was in, Get Him To the Greek - was that any good?
