you ask an interesting question. the larger topic, if the answer to your question 'was the EQ even real?' happens to be NO is:

how big of a fraudulent story can a government/media sell to the masses? with side topics of best way to disseminate false info, how to marginalize individuals with conflicting info, etc

one possible red flag to BS is the phrase 'its been reported' with no ORIGINATING source given

perhaps it has been done before, and successfully, on a smaller scale, such as a 'gasline' explosion near San Mateo SF, where witnesses saw a low flying plane second before, and unsourced reports of 'poor service' and 'gas smell complaints' sprung up not 5 minutes after the explosion. and the explosion didnt fit a gasline explosion, but was more incendiary, catching way too many houses on fire

should you really be interested - look to small, independent, stations that monitor seismic activity and if they did/did not record the event, as seismic waves travel the globe

There are wars behind the scenes including scaler weapon wars. We, the U.S. has them, Russia, Israel, China, Japan, Britain and on and on it goes. TPTB are all fighting with each other for control of the planet. The entire population is affected with weather anomalies and earthquake and volcano activities.

Spread the word that our leaders are corrupt and bent on destroying mankind. When will we release our fears and round these jackals up. I have seen this type of research concerning the Gulf of Mexico BP Oilspill back in April,2010.

Someone called the Gulf of Mexico area fishing management offices and asked them how the BP Oilspill had affected their fishing industry. They responded that the fishing business had NOT BEEN PHASED in the least. Though we were told the BP oilspill was one of the biggest ecological disaster in history!

I do think these large disasters are being fabricated in some part as part of a psychological operation.
