I wrote this note to explain my hypothesis on why Christ had to die for mankind

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Christ came in the flesh to go to the underworld to rip a veil, open the Seal, the Stargate to us free our souls from Sheol, the land of the dead, the underworld.

Before Christ came men went to Sheol, the land of the dead, the underworld. The Egyptians went through great lengths to navigate through the underworld. Hoping they could free themselves and take their place in the heavens. But it was only when Christ came that the Stargate was ripped open.
The only way Christ could have set us free was to be in the flesh first so he could die. It was the only way into the underworld. When Christ received the baptism in the water with John the Baptist and the Holy spirit entered Christ, that was the Power of the father giving Christ the supernatural power he would need to accomplish his mission and go to the underworld to rip the veil, that's why he said he and the father are one..Thats why his resurrection was so important cause he accomplished his mission and it meant he ripped it open and came out on the other side.

Man’s Fall from Heaven

I can’t think of one place in the OT with the exception of Enoch before Christ’s sacrifice where a man was mentioned going to heaven after death. I surmise this happened after Adam and Eve (mankind) where banished from Eden (heavenly realm).

We know the bible speaks that when Christ died for 3 days and went to the underworld to free souls that were held captive there.

The Old Testament view of the afterlife was that all people, whether righteous or unrighteous, went to Sheol when they died. No Hebrew figure ever descended into Sheol and returned, although an apparition of the recently deceased Samuel briefly appeared to Saul when summoned by the Witch of Endor. Several works from the Second Temple period elaborate the concept of Sheol, dividing it into sections based on the righteousness or unrighteousness of those who have died.

The VEIL…THE Stargate

The scriptures speak of a Veil which separated man from going to heaven and being in the presence of the Lord.

The LORD God described the veil for Moses in Exodus 26:31-34. “You shall make a veil of blue and purple and scarlet material and fine twisted linen; it shall be made with cherubim, the work of a skillful workman. You shall hang it on four pillars of acacia overlaid with gold, their hooks also being of gold, on four sockets of silver. You shall hang up the veil under the clasps, and shall bring in the ark of the testimony there within the veil; and the veil shall serve for you as a partition between the holy place and the holy of holies. You shall put the mercy seat on the ark of the testimony in the holy of holies.” This loose-hanging four-inch thick sixty feet by thirty feet curtain was there to keep sinful man out of the Most Holy Place.
That thick imposing veil in the Holy of Holies symbolized that which separated sinful man from the holy presence of Yahweh. The only way sinful man could ever approach a most holy God is by means of blood. The veil shut out and kept everyone from further approach.

The curtain hung there as if to say, “Do not enter.”

We often hear, As above so below. Did the earthly temple represent the heavenly temple?

EGYPT, Pharaohs and the after life

The Pharaohs were obsessed with navigating through the underworld to make it out the other side where they believed they would be resurrected and have their place among the Stars of Heaven. The pharaohs wrote the book of the Dead and the coffin texts which are primarily concerned with protecting the pharaoh's remains, reanimating his body after death, and helping him ascend to the heavens, which are the emphasis of the afterlife during the Old Kingdom. The spells delineate all of the ways the pharaoh could travel, including the use of ramps, stairs, ladders, and most importantly flying. The spells could also be used to call the gods to help, even threatening them if they did not comply.[6]

CHRIST'S DESCENT INTO HELL..to free souls

The New Testament maintains a distinction between Sheol, the common "place of the dead", and the eternal destiny of those condemned at the Final Judgment, variously described as Gehenna, "the outer darkness," or a lake of eternal fire. Modern English translations of the Bible maintain this distinction (e.g. by translating Sheol as "the Pit" and Gehenna as "Hell"), but the influential King James Version used the word "hell" to translate both concepts.

The Hellenistic views of heroic descent into the Underworld and successful return follow traditions that are far older than the mystery religions popular at the time of Christ. The Epic of Gilgamesh includes such a scene, and it appears also in Odyssey XI. Writing shortly before the birth of Jesus, Vergil included it in the Aeneid. What little we know of the worship in mystery religions such as the Eleusinian Mysteries and Mithraism suggests that a ritual death and rebirth of the initiate was an important part of their liturgy. Again, this has earlier parallels, in particular with the worship of Osiris. The ancient homily on The Lord's Descent into Hell may mirror these traditions by referring to baptism as a symbolic death and rebirth. (cf. Colossians 2:9–15) Or, these traditions of Mithraism may be drawn from early Christian homilies.

Several passages from the New Testament have been taken to imply that Christ descended into hell or the realm of the dead before the Ascension.[4] These include:

Matthew 12:40 draws a comparison between Jonah being swallowed by a huge fish, and Christ being three days in the earth.

Acts 2:27 and Acts 2:31 declare in effect that Hades could not hold the crucified Christ.

Two passages of 1 Peter principally have been used as a basis for the ancient doctrine.

1Peter 3:19–20 says that Jesus "went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison, who in former times did not obey, when God waited patiently in the days of Noah…."[5]

1Peter 4:6 says that the gospel was "proclaimed even to the dead…" (NRSV). ("εἰς τοῦτο γὰρ καὶ νεκροῖς εὐηγγελίσθ​η…")

Ephesians 4:8–10 has also been understood by others[who?]to suggest a Harrowing of Hell doctrine: "When he ascended on high, he led captives in his train and gave gifts to men."

Zechariah 9:11 refers to prisoners in a waterless pit. "As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water." The verses' reference to captives has been presented as a reflection of Yahweh's captives of the enemy in Psalm 68:17–18: "God's chariots were myriad, thousands upon thousands; from Sinai the Lord entered the holy place. You went up to its lofty height; you took captives, received slaves as tribute. No rebels can live in the presence of God."
Isaiah 24:21-22 also refers to spirits in prison, reminiscent of Peter's account of a visitation to spirits in prison: "And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited."

CHRIST RIPS THE VEIL

Matthew, Mark and Luke tell us the thick veil or curtain that separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place in the Temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom. “And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split” (Matthew 27:51).

God threw open the Most Holy Place to all men. The way is open now for all men to come boldly to the throne of grace through the atoning death of Christ. Following the supernatural tearing of the veil came the supernatural earthquake.

Matthew and Mark make it clear—the rending of the veil followed immediately upon the death of Christ. In deed, it is accurate to say it “occurred at the moment of that death.” It was through the death of Christ that a way into the heavenly sanctuary was opened. The only person who could die the only kind of death that would satisfy the justice of God and save lost mankind was Jesus Christ.

It was a voluntary sacrifice. He chose to die for our sins. He chose to die in our place. The curtain is the way into the Most Holy Place where God dwells in heaven (Hebrews 10:19-20). Heaven is opened up for all who take refuge in Jesus Christ (4:16).

SON & FATHER ARE ONE..THE MISSION

John the Baptist was God's appointed messenger. Before Jesus began his ministry, John had been announcing to the people throughout the regions of Jerusalem and Judea to prepare for the coming Messiah. He was calling them to repent, turn from their sins, and be baptized. He was pointing the way to Jesus. Then, all of a sudden, Jesus appeared on the scene. Jesus came to John to be baptized, but John told him, "I need to be baptized by you." John himself wondered why Jesus asked to be baptized.

So Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." John then consented and baptized Jesus. As Jesus came up out of the water, heaven opened, and the Spirit of God, like a dove, descended upon him. Witnesses to the baptism heard a voice from heaven saying, "This is my son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

It is my belief that in the heavenly realm Christ was the son of God. He was sent here in the flesh to accomplish a mission. Because the underworld is far removed from heaven the only gate to it was through the flesh. Christ mission was to come in the flesh, die and go to the underworld to break open a star gate to free the souls of men. To accomplish that mission he needed the power of the Father (Holy Spirit).

This is why Christ said He and the father are One.



As written in the Book of Revelation: "When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: 'Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead (Greek egonomen nekros), and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades."[Rev. 1:17-18]

This passage, along with the phrase in 1 Peter that God did "not leave his soul in Hades,"[Acts 2:31] is the theological basis behind the statement "He descended into Hades" in the Apostles' Creed. The death state of Christ was considered by theologians such as Thomas Aquinas and related in traditions such as the Harrowing of Hell.

CHRIST opened the Seal, the Stargate. He freed us from Sheol the land of the dead, the underworld.

Christ Resurrection was the Promise of eternal LIFE for all men. No man shall come to the Father but through CHRIST.

In Christian theology, the resurrection of Jesus is a foundation of the Christian faith.[1 Cor 15:12-20] [1 Pet 1:3] Christians, through faith in the working of God[Col 2:12] are spiritually resurrected with Jesus, and are redeemed so that they may walk in a new way of life.[Rom 6:4] As Paul the Apostle stated: "If Christ was not raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your trust in God is useless."[1 Cor 15:14] The death and resurrection of Jesus are the most important events in Christian Theology. They form the point in scripture where Jesus gives his ultimate demonstration that he has power over life and death, thus he has the ability to give people eternal life.

Revelation 5: 9-15

9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
