That feeling of dread on Sunday night....
I get a sense, spiritually...Sunday night feels very heavy. Most folks back to work Monday. Sometimes I swear I can pick up on these bad vibes. Anyone else notice this?

I have been able to pick on this for years, it has been growing worse. Not sure what it is, but it sucks.

I just walked in one frosty morn,

Well, I lost my job on Friday, so Monday is just another day to me now.

I thought maybe I was the only one who got that. I booked today (Monday) off from work, so now I've got that Sunday feeling today instead.

Sunday night is my worst night for sleeping, and I start to feel blah around 8:00. I'm sure it wouldn't be if I liked my job more, and actually looked forward to going in.

Re: That feeling of dread on Sunday night....
I used to feel that way when I was living the deception. Many fail to realize that we came into this world with everything we needed to live a happy existence. Then, a great separation took place from that reality to our perceived reality some call it the fall from grace others reference Adam and Eve , whatever you call it basically as long as you fail to acknowledge you were created in the likeness of God that has no needs and only live with true unconditional love in your heart you will always come out in the short end of the stick. My views are from a Course in Miracles which has liberated me form all this bullshit we create for ourselves.

Sunday eve is typically more intense...
But with this factored in, it is very intense lately... with the feeling coming and going but usually when it returns it has greater intensity.

Sundays have always been depressing.

Back in the day when stores were all closed on Sunday was even worse.

Sunday is a blessed day, the blessing starts on saturday when the sun goes down and lasts until the sun goes down on sunday.

What you are witnessing is the end of that sunday blessing, things going back to normal.

I have always hated the way Sunday feels. Even when I was a kid. Even know that I'm self employed as an adult and don't have to sit in an office Monday-Friday. There is just something about it that I hate.

The day has a very dreadful vibe indeed...despite being designated as a day of worship. I feel it represents the constraints we live under.

Church, laundry, shopping...ugh. It's overwhelming. We all feel it, especially those of us who are wild at heart and free. This evening sums it all up: back in your cage, slave.

Re: That feeling of dread on Sunday night....
that's your own dread. no one elses and if you don't have a job to go to Monday then its a severe case of empathy and the ability to recognize the dread of the drudgery of others around the world. its not some mystical spiritual interconnection of souls/minds or some shit

Re: That feeling of dread on Sunday night....
And yes, that song does say it...

"In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughing little girl that he was swinging.
And I stopped beside a Sunday school
And listened to the songs they were singing.
Then I headed down the street,
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringing,
And it echoed through the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalk
And Sunday morning coming down."

Sunday night always the most depressing time because as America continued to pervert Capitalism (a good concept when used correctly) - most people spend their time as slaves for others and apart from their families. Supposedly they work to care for those families, but they are usually families they supporting while not actually seeing them.

So we spend what little time we have for ourselves - two days a week - doing whatever life is really about and getting a glimpse of the beauty of the world and relationships around us -- only to have it ripped from our grasp every Monday morning.

50 years ago, Sunday night was always the worst time for my father. He would grow irritable and unhappy, and we all knew why. It would be 5 days before we could be a family again. Until then he would only eat and sleep and work. Very sad rut we've developed in American life.

church is dreadful, a constraint and overwhelming to you? youre doing it wrong. its probably because you've fallen into the box of religion of having or being forced to go to a building once a week or on some specific schedule as a part of some ritualistic routine. God doesn't dwell in temples made with hands- Acts 17:24. Heaven is Gods throne, earth is his footstool, what house (of worship) can you build for him? - Isaiah 66:1. God is everywhere and if you've accepted him...within you.

Re: That feeling of dread on Sunday night....
and yes, I am unemployed now and it is STILL depressing. Decades of Sunday night depression will never go away.

What would we do without it though. That is why God designated the 7th day a day of rest. Because everybody needs to refuel and contemplate apprecaite the bigger things.

No, not at all! Not since I stopped going there. I have a much easier time talking to God and praying now that I do it in my own way, on my own time. In fact, that's what gets me up on Monday mornings :)

Re: That feeling of dread on Sunday night....
I like my job even tho its incredibly demanding.
It's still tough, tho, to know there are 5 days ahead of me wherein I will basically only work, sleep, work, sleep...and I'm so pathetic that I am continually grateful that I don't have to take call any more.
sigh

I used to love Sundays, especially when I was a kid...they always felt different. Kinda quiet and still, sorta peaceful.
Now they feel like a countdown, with a ticking clock always in my face.

Reckon thats the price I pay for independence. The alternative isn't acceptable to me.
