im no doomtard by any means. im just stating the obvious. every fucking msm news channel is talking about this 'roids "scandal". who gives 2 fucks if a overpaid meat head takes a hgh cuz he's thinks it will make him better. no different than you drinking a redbull while at work in my eyes. wheres our president? is it a coincidence that congress is on vacation exactly the same time the deadline for the un arms treaty ratification comes around. wheres the latest results of the irs giving the information to congress they have been demanding for months. where's the true explanation behind the sudden closure of consulates and embassies in the middle east. is it a coincidence that all this shit is brewing in Syria/iran just as the deadline for 7 countries in 7 years is coming to a close.

just saying theres more important things we need information on, not wheither or not aRod used roids cuz he's getting old and cant keep up with the young bucks..

If this happens in MLB, I would assume the athletes in the NBA and NFL do it, too. Do we ever hear about it there? I only hear about the baseball players. Why?

Thanks!

I think its cause baseball is supposed to be Americas "clean cut" sport. plus they are the highest paid professional athletes, and are held to a little higher standards then a muscle head who goes around smashing his head into people until he has brain damage...

UPDATES AT END OF THREAD

[link to espn.go.com]

Major League Baseball will seek to suspend about 20 players connected to the Miami-area clinic at the heart of an ongoing performance-enhancing drug scandal, including Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun, possibly within the next few weeks, ESPN's "Outside the Lines" has learned. If the suspensions are upheld, the performance-enhancing drug scandal would be the largest in American sports history.

Tony Bosch, founder of the now-shuttered Biogenesis of America, reached an agreement this week to cooperate with MLB's investigation, two sources told "Outside the Lines," giving MLB the ammunition officials believe they need to suspend the players.

One source familiar with the case said the commissioner's office might seek 100-game suspensions for Rodriguez, Braun and other players, the penalty for a second doping offense.

- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Further proof of our corrupt and fallen society. This would be the biggest sports doping/cheating scandal story in history and would affect a few all-stars, former MVP type players, many of which are well-known celebrity sports stars and multi-mega millionares.

For shame!

How come they haven't done this to all the NFL/NBA players?

Oh yeah.. I think I know why -.-

I used to do the sports thing. Was a big 49ers fan. I've got a ton of memorabilia, some of which is surprisingly valuable... for what it is.

But then 1998, I started driving cab here in Tucson, where we get a lot of ball players with spring training and the PGA and I started meeting these guys.

The triple A guys are the best. They're just real guys who are trying their best to make it and go pro. They're respectful, curious, friendly, and if you give them good service, they tip well.

Then there are the pros.

These guys are the biggest babies around. They're rude, obnoxious, and each and every one of them has a chip on their shoulder for one reason or another. And they all think that you should know who they are. They all over estimate their importance.

I actually threw out of 'em out of my cab one night at River and Craycroft. He was a pitcher for Seattle back in 1999. What a dick head this guy was. (the reason I mention the year and the intersection is because if you by chance knew the area back then you're 1rof1

Anyway, this guy asshole in particular really opened my eyes to sports.

I mean think about it.

They play a game. Sure, they're good at it. But they are still playing a game for our amusement. And they make incredible amounts money doing so. But then they treat their fans like shit.

Like when Dan Majerle and Danny Ainge of the 1993 Phooenix Suns stiffed a waitress I knew back in Chicago.

The sad thing is, even after hauling dozens of these guys, I never met one exception to the rule.

These people, as talented as they may or may not be, along with their cohorts in Hollywood, who make millions making pretend, are the "false idols".

Pro athletes are still people. They go stadium to stadium and get yelled at, booed, cursed at and have themselves and their family insulted. Why would they be grateful for their sports fanbase?
Most people you encounter in your daily life are assholes so why would pro athletes be any different? The only difference is that every move a pro athlete makes is criticized and now with social media, their actions are usually recorded and shared with the rest of the world.

Just because someone makes $2 million a year doesn't mean that they should be held to a higher standard than someone who makes $30,000 a year. People are people.

I never waste my time watching "duh game". Never have and never will. Kids sports are cool though. Teaches health and teamwork and stuff.

Do any other guys get the "you must be gay", or "you're not normal" look when you say you don't watch or care about pro sports? If the comment(s) I get are rude enough I start in with the preaching and when I make sense, the subject changes immediately.

I'm physical. I've dove with sharks, I'm military trained underwater search and rescue and I earned a black belt in TRADITIONAL Karate. In that, you compete with yourself, to better yourself. Not to prove you're better or stronger than someone else. When you spar and someone is more skilled than you, or "wins" it's not them being better than you. It means you did something wrong and need work. NOT that "you lose".

We're conditioned to compete for everything now. Walking(?), cooking(?), hitting balls into little holes. It's absurd.

I know two people who do security at the local arena here in Phoenix. They don't get paid CRAP. And no, they don't get to see the games. They have to be there hours early and hours after and only get paid for game time. WHY DON'T THE PLAYERS WHO ARE PAID MILLIONS A YEAR NOT "TIP" THE SECURITY STAFF(S) THAT MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO EARN THOSE INCOMES? Just 20 bucks or so from each of the players divided between the people who make them safe and rich would be fair.

Phoenix gave the Chicago Cubs 99 MILLION dollars to put their spring training camp here. The local VA asked if a couple of the players could stop by to pick up the spirits of the wounded veterans (Viet Nam, Korea, the middle east and a few all the way back from WWII). The Cubs declined. They said "they were umm, too busy"! I would have said "then you're too busy to cash this 99 million dollar check, too" and snatched it back real fast. On a side note, it will take over 30 years for the city to recoup it's investment if anyone thinks having the training camp here will provide revenue. For what they're paid, the Cubs could have paid for their own damn camp. But the local politicians wouldn't get their "perks" with tickets to the games and stuff.

Let the players dose up on whatever drugs they want. It's their funeral. Real great role models, aren't they...

Big fucking deal - a bunch of quasi-criminal drug addict grown men who chase BALLS around a field causes THIS kind of commotion?

Frak that shit... If we could invest even HALF the time, money and effort into something PRODUCTIVE that Americans WASTE every year on fraking SPORTS, we could REALLY accomplish something in this country.

Morons.

Why don't they just lighten up and start giving awards for best chemical enhancement per team, each year? Of course if your players got heart conditions or cancer, you would be disqualified for a year or two...

and if they died on the field from "unknown" causes you'd be out for five years.

But they're going to drug and dope to get an advantage over their normal human level of performance. Why not relax and see that they do it without killing their athletes.
