What Does the Bible say Heaven is Like?


hat does the Bible say that heaven looks like? Are there sufficient scriptures to tell us? Are the images of the saints playing harps while lying on the clouds of heaven accurate? Can we know for sure what heaven will be like?

What Heaven Isn’t

The tiny chubby cherub angels playing their harps in heaven are not what heaven will be like or are like at this present time. Heaven exists today but humans who are living on earth cannot yet see it and the pictures that we have seen of it can not describe it accurately in all its splendor, glory, beauty, and majesty. Those who have died in the faith in Jesus Christ are said to be present with the Lord and since the Lord is seated at the right hand of the Father on His throne they are in heaven right now. What this means is that heaven is for real; it does exist, and there are Christians who have died and gone to heaven and are now with Jesus Christ.

The Three Heavens

There are actually three heavens described in the Bible. The first heaven is what is called the firmament or sky that covers the earth. This is the realm of birds and clouds that surrounds the entire earth.
The second heaven is where the stars, the sun, and the moon reside. This is the space beyond the earth and it covers the entire universe. It is as far as the human eye can see with the help Stairway to Heavenof gigantic telescopes such as the Hubble Space Telescope.

The third heaven is unseen and is the residence of God, including Jesus Christ. This is where the dead martyrs and saints are today. This is the location of the throne of God and where the holy angels surrounding His throne sing day and night, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord our God.

Ummmm... Yeah?

If Heaven is perfect, it seems odd that it would be described as having walls and gates...

Is it meant to keep someone out?

I've got 25+ years of Bible study. I'm asking a question of opinion.

Heaven does have the Pearly Gates right?

Why do you build a wall if there is no sin, pain, badness, etc etc in Heaven?

Also, I assume the in the spiritual dimension, it doesn't follow the same law of physics as here. For example, the spirit beings probably aren't bound by gravity. If so, that means, they can probably traverse both land and air, just as easily. And if so, this could explain how they could be just outside of heaven.

Humans are spirits enclosed in flesh. It seems to me there is no spirit world and a distinct physical world. It is one world, the Greek word kosmos, being viewed by spirits that all occupy the same space but have different abilities to see. It's like five guys going out into the same woods at night. Each one brings his own flashlight but each illuminates differently based upon factors like battery power, lamp strength, etc. one guy might see a quarter mile in and another might only see ten feet ahead.

Actually, Heaven is not said to have any walls or gates at all. However the item you speak of is called the city of New Jerusalem coming DOWN from Heaven to earth. This city has walls and gates. Read the verses below:

Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Rev 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

The rest of the verses describe the gates, walls, streets and rivers of this City that was sent down to earth. Please understand though that this the book of Revelation and much of this book is metaphoric as is true for most prophecy. The Pearly Gates represents the fact that those who enter into this city would have to be pure. The streets of gold represents the fact that those who will walk in this city will walk righteously; a walk as pure as gold! I am sure that you can now using these facts figure out the rest for yourself. John is having a vision (dream) about what the planet will be like after Jesus returns. It will be pure and Holy! It will be a heavenly place and God will have a throne there (a metaphor to explain that His presence will always be there). Be at peace my friend!

The Spirit in this verse sounds like a vehicle!

Many times the spirit is referred to as something functioning, transporting or destroying...

It's is open for everyone according to the Bible... It's the person's choice. That being said, everything you said makes no sense. Not being a dick, but that can't possibly be the answer.
