I survived a motorcycle accident... ASK ME ANYTHING!!!

the OP has a legit issue, I think it should go back to that and stop this soccer mom pulling out in front of ppl stuff and I am personally glad OP it OK...it happens to the best of us when we have to ride around, obeying traffic laws and then some dumb shit pulls out in front of us.

motorcycles should be on track only.

anyone who rides on the roads with the general public should be run off the rode into a pole.

I got creamed in SF in 2001 by an ambulance blowing a red light, no lights, no siren...radial fracture on the right femur, 5 broken ribs, both lungs collapsed, and a rib in one of them that took SF General a month to find. Oh, and a broken pinkie on the left hand that is still to this day broken.

Riding a donor cycle is a risk you take, especially in cities...had 3 years under my belt in SF and never saw that coming...very bike friendly. Those ribs still hurt anytime I sit in a wooden chair, and winter is fun with the arthritis for all this time.

There's two types of peeps who ride...those that fall and those that are going to. Congrats on your succession.

The reason I survived I know is that 1) I was young and 2) I knew I had to survive and that was my only goal in life.

I couldn't breathe and took my helmet off and saw the bottom of my boot facing me on my chest and thought my leg was cut off and just had to calm myself down because I thought if I stopped breathing I would die. Both lungs were collapsed so I couldn't breathe much, just shallow breathes.

Whatever.

I got a better bike and did a 9000 mile trip around our great nation in 2007-ish:

Decisions happen in a split second bud. I feel your pain, but I hope you see the error in your ways. Looking for sympathy from others to try and help you feel better about what you did, isn't going to help. Any chance you motovlogged this adventure?

If you get a chance, go check 'Twist of the Wrist II" it's a great riding instructional video that I think every rider should watch. Not bashing, just trying to help a fellow rider stay safe. We need all the help we can get out there, bud. Ride safe.

My sympathies, but you broke three rules: you STOP on yellows..ALWAYS; you are invisible so act and ride accordingly; all bike accidents are the fault of the biker...period.

If you get cut off by a car, the driver didn't see you. Riding a bike requires expanding your awareness as far as you can, and half the time imagining what you would do in a wreck. In OPs case, I imagined Tboning a car many times, and when it happened, I survived it by leaping at impact, exactly as imagined.

I still say, any bike accident is the fault of the biker.
