This highly detailed image has a clear view of the LM sublimator vent and its insulated deflector. Its at the top of the LM on the right next to one of the VHF antennas.

I came across a strange claim associated with this vent from the A11 lunar surface journal, "Howard Tindall discussed factors which make pinpoint landings difficult. He cited "thrust from the LM water boiler" resulting in a 6,000 foot miss distance, or about 1/4 of the 4 miles by which Apollo 11 overflew its target. Readers should note that Paul Fjeld is doubtful about this conclusion. He writes: "The vent for the sublimators was angled up to a deflector which should have sprayed the gas evenly with little net thrust to the spacecraft. Do you mean, have you been deleting IDW's posts since he stated that he was finished with the thread, yes I have and it's not just me. Many of his posts get deleted by mods before I have even seen them because they are abusive posts, so I don't know who is deleting the most.

Imagine you started a thread about American healthcare and Obama because you had some ideas about it. When the thread started everything was fine, some people agreed with you, some thought you were an idiot. Then after a few days a crazy ranting guy shows up who says that America is a tiny principality between Austria and Switzerland and that Obama was the king of Denmark amongst other wrong ideas. You could:

1) Go with the flow and let your thread become about whether America should become a canton of Switzerland and who is Margrethe II anyway. I am not going to do that.

2) Ignore the crazy guy but then everything you write will be buried under piles of crap from him because he posts great long rambling posts that appear three times as often as your posts.

3) Try to tell him that the USA is a huge country of 320 million people on the other side of the Atlantic. Well I have tried this approach for weeks. I have posted countless explanations of the simplest facts over and over again. Made up hypothetical situations to illustrate the processes and provided links to everything to back up my claims but he is just too crazy and too dumb to learn anything. Do you know it took everyone over a week of effort and seven pages to get him to realise that a cube doesn't look the same from every angle.

This is wrong and the whole basis for understanding how heat is managed in a vacuum depends on this. To clarify what Windley said the solar absorptivity to thermal emissivity ratio ( alpha to epsilon ) does determine the surface temperature and alpha does not have to equal epsilon although once the isolated surface ( or body in thermal equilibrium ) reaches its equilibrium temperature then the net radiative flux will be zero.

Yes, it is, and very post that debunks his nonsense is removed.

He has removed A PDF from Kodak explaining the effects of heat on film, amongst other things, as well as several links explaining the effects of a vacuum on chemicals used in photography that together both essentially prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the apollo photography was faked in it's entirety.
So yeah, I've proved it was impossible and he knows it was, thus the deletions of technical information under the pretext of removing "spam", as he calls the truth..

Now, as for the human aspect of it, we will never know whether Apollo astronauts could have survived the thermal environment on the moon because we simply have zero vetted details concerning ANY of the critical variables involved. We don't know how much water they supposedly had, we don't know how fast a suits sublimation plate could remove heat, little details like that



So you could put it like this in a nutshell, it is THEORETICALLY possible the suits could work, it can't be proved they could, and it is impossible for the photography to be real, it would have looked like the Russian space walk photography or worst because of he effects of a vacuum on chemicals and the effects of heat on gelatin in a vacuum.
