I've been to Bog Hot Springs. It comes out along a creek. You get in at different spots along that creek. It can be hotter or even hotter or way hotter. People have stacked up rocks for simple dams to make larger pools. Some steps have been cut into the dirt bank. That's it for improvements. (I picked up the customary beer can garbage around and in campfire rings.) It is very remote and you might not see anyone there for a day or two. ======= Trivia: This is 90 air miles south of the Malheur Wildlife Refuge. Nevada has more hot springs than other states. |

My guess is gases made them pass out & then drown. Water does't have to be boiling to kill you. There is a borax lake about 40 air miles NNE in Oregon where a cowboy on a bet tried to swim across it. Wasn't boiling. It was too hot. Never recovered. |

Killed everyone and all the animals in the village next to it. Quoting: BadMoonRising 42411020 The amazing thing about that story is how they figured out what happened and then figured out how to prevent it happening again, by installing a system to vent the carbon dioxide buildup that was forming under pressure at the bottom of the lake. I thought it was a very cool example of humanitarianism, science and ingenuity all together, how they pulled that off. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 50034712 United States 04/15/2016 06:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Not too far from here: [link to www.rgj.com] A recent swarm of earthquakes continues to shake Northern Nevada as local seismologists monitor the on-going activity that includes three quakes larger than magnitude 4 since mid-July – with the strongest quake reaching 4.6. The swarm could also be related to volcanic activity. Still, scientists haven’t found direct evidence to indicate if the swarm is driven by volcanic processes, seismologists said. |

You would be surprised at what gasses off from your typical, backyard spa or hot tub. Doesn't some water which is affiliated with volcanism become highly acidic to the point where you would burn alive? |

Quoting: Dr. Rorschach Watchmen All in all pretty freaky event, but not uncommon if im not mistaken. This happens from time to time in hot springs does it not? I was just thinking that, that's how the movie's events start off, with dead people in a hot spring. And then all hell breaks loose. |
