If Obama puts the vote off to Congress then he is free to not become an apostate, subjected to beheading by Sharia Law. And he buys time until the next president can position the military to deal with repercussion.

US First Responders have been training and mobilizing for the past 10 years and are prepared to deal with the Saudi attacks on US soil. However, this means a dozen US cities will be attacked like on 911. Our oil, food, water supplies will be limited.

Good points. The Saudis will have nearly unlimited liabilities from this.

For now, the fear of Iran keeps them in line and probably averse to any strong reaction against the US, but I think this will change the status quo in some way.

This may hasten them (and possibly Israel) toward a pre-emptive strike on Iran in order to draw the US into the conflict before the economic impact of this can reach them. They have all the incentive in the world to do so now.

It's great that congress actually did override Obama's veto for the first and likely only time in eth years and all, but how are people going to go about suing another country. I mean really, any meaningful lawsuit or judgment is going to have to go through in international court system that only really works when the nations agree to be bound by stuff like that.

I don't see how the families of the 911 victims are gong to get a penny from the house of Saud and trying to force that issue is more liable than not to result in war... which is what they really want I guess.

This override clearly shows that the Saudis' failed to spread enough money around in Congress.
