JANET STREET-PORTER: What poor Alfie Evans needs now is peace and love, instead he has become a tragic pawn in a religious war

The NHS has behaved like this before .

There was a little boy whose parents wanted to take him to have treatment abroad .

There was a tremendous fuss .

Those parents took him and I think it worked out ok.

If Alfie is really badly ill and is going to die soon ,maybe it would be better to let the parents do what they think is best ...

The press said the judge would not let him go to Italy as he might die on the journey ....if he is dying why could he not go ?

If he died on the journey so what ?

At least something was being done ...and you never know if he arrived alive may be the Italians could do something different and the parents would be happy..

It is just stupid bureaucratic power and control ....

The NHS is failing because there are too many bureaucrats .

Too many chiefs and not enough Indians ..as they used to say .

I feel sorry for the poor family.....
