A 100-foot crack at Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming have prompted officials to close certain areas to tourists.

Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point are now closed to tourists due to a possible safety hazard and park rangers are initiating a risk assessment, according to a statement from the National Park Service.

Superintendent David Vela said, “Human safety is our number one priority, and with an abundance of caution we are temporarily closing this area until we can properly assess the situation.”

It amazes me a major event has occurred at Yellowstone, and it isn't pinned. You people DO realize if that thing blows, we are going to become extinct eventually!

yellowstone shot it's wad, centuries ago ... and collapsed into a "vent" ... it's NOT going to ever be a "super volcano" again ... which is not to say it isn't a super active region ... with an average of over a thousand EQ per year ... but it is too well vented to ever build up enough pressure to "blow" ........... again

It's blown 3 times before that I can think of, chances are it'll blow again; maybe even in our lifetime, though I doubt it.

100 foot crack is nothing. Falling rocks and shifting mountainsides, trees fall over and rock slides happen in ALLLLLL mountains.

I do realize that no major event has occurred at Yellowstone.

This is at Grand Teton National Park.
Plus its not even major unless one is doom driven.

I'l be spending 11 days in Yellowstone NP and one in the Grand Teton NP Between July 31st and August 12th.

I'll report back to this thread if not banned by GLP or God.

Why is is so important to see if people have enough sense to keep out of boiling water. Do they expect a lot of it to be lying around in future?
