According to Rev, they got 50 inches of rain in April (just prior to the eruption). That wasn't even on Big Island. This WILL BE, and I think we should all be prepared for something to transpire. For those of you thinking slump...you need to also think of the western face of Mauna Loa as well as Hilina. That's a whole lot of weight coming down on those slopes that already have compromised stability. Not to mention the fact that rain will be heading toward the crater and F8 as well. Honestly, I'd be very worried about F8 since it's magma is so close to the surface and it's further down-slope than the HMM crater. IF it has an explosive eruption at F8, then that definitely could unhinge Hilina. It's going to be a tense weekend. And if I were in California, I'd probably go somewhere else for a few days. I can only imagine the fireworks that would have gone off if the lava was still flowing. However, there are plenty of other unknowns in the current state that make this equally disconcerting. “And he brought them out and said, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' So they said, 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.'" Acts 16:30-31 |

You're absolutely right. Could you imagine 50" of rain on F8 at full eruptive fountaining? Yikes. Maybe the heat of it would have just evaporated it before it reached. But now it can collect and drain into the fissure(s) in the area. Nobody Determines MY Worth but ME |

User ID: 76807811 United States 08/21/2018 02:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | While the YouTuber indicates a pass through between the two Westernmost islands...the model HAS since changed. NOW...the eye looks to be going DIRECTLY through the center of Maui. Quoting: Rose8 The rain amounts still appear to be very severe for Hawaii big island. What's more, severe amounts on the West Slope of Mauna Loa as well. I'm still looking at the model hour to hour. It still looks like from 8/20-8/25 there are 18-19" on BOTH Hawaii and Maui, as well as hitting Lana'i, Kaho'olawe and Moloka'i. It appears that MrMBB333 catches this change on his video (bottom). Maui will get more rain, about an inch and a half more than Hawaii, looking at over 19". I'm seeing 19.61" by 7pm on the 25th. 19.49" on Hawaii by 10pm...19.76 by 1am (8/26). 20.46" on Maui by 1am (8/26) 19.88" on Hawaii by 4am (8/26) 20.63" on Maui 20.63" on Hawaii by 10am (8/26) 22.23" on Maui (shit) 22.98" on Maui by 1pm (8/26) Hawaii seems to remain steady in the 20.6 range 20.87" on Hawaii by 4pm 23.66" on Maui My heart is sinking... 23.95" on Maui Hawaii remaining steady at previous range 21.48" on Hawaii by 10pm Maui remaining steady Hawaii levels steady by 1am (8/27) Maui remaining steady 24.11" on Maui by 7am (8/27) Hawaii levels remain steady at 20" range 21.86" on Hawaii by 1pm 24.33" on Maui Hawaii remaining steady by 4pm Maui remaining steady 21.9" on Hawaii by 7pm 24.48" on Maui 21.95 on Hawaii by 10pm (8/27) 24.49 on Maui 24.53" on Maui by 1am (8/28) Hawaii remaining steady 22.17" on Hawaii by 7am Maui remaining steady Hawaii remaining steady by 1pm Maui remaining steady 23.17" on Hawaii by 7pm Maui remaining steady levels 24.16" on Hawaii by 10pm (8/28) 24.7" on Maui 25.24" on Hawaii by 1am (8/29) Maui remaining steady 24.85" on Maui by 10am 25.3" on Hawaii 24.9" on Maui by 1pm 24.32" on Hawaii So yeah...if this model doesn't change again...NOT GOOD... Not as frequent as East and Gulf Coast USA, but they do happen and can be as severe as the African origin Caribbean killer storms. In 1992 -on September 11th– Cat 4 Hurricane Iniki devastated Kauai with 145 mph winds. 6 people died, 90% of the power poles were downed, and Iniki left 3.1 Billion dollars in damage.
