Are most South Afrikaaners (and the other ethnic groups) aware that it seems as though the land expropriation is tied to Chinese mining interests? Some have noticed that the farms slated for expropriation correspond to natural resource reserves (eg mines, deposits, etc), and some of us are suspicious that the ANC is willing to sell out these interests for some quick money without thinking of the long-term ramifications for ALL of South Africa (and ALL of Sub-Saharan Africa as well, as the Chinese make their way across the continent).
In the 1980s, we were inundated with propaganda that the “racist Afrikaaners” were oppressing the “native blacks,” but a lot of us know that the they never took land from anyone, that the Khoisan (closest fit to the definition of “natives” in that area) are on the side of the Afrikaans, and that the Bantu (among other non-native ethnic groups) are the actual invaders. If those invaders, who cried “Racism!”, thought the Afrikaans were racist, they are in for a BIG surprise (of ACTUAL racism) when the Chinese take over.
