Plus the world has ran a deficit last 5 years in a row on silver mined verses silver used in industrial / etc sectors that will forever be to costly to ever recycle ... at least with any technology currently available to humans

But I think everyone should have around 10%-25% of the net worth in metals depending on age as you get older it should go,up the scale to 25% by 65 IMHO .. increasing about 1% ish every 5 years

Most worthy financial advisors only say 5% but I think that's a bit low to use as a hedge - I think they say 5% becuase that is 5% more they get to make commissions on ...

Nah ... there is always shit to barter for that are needs and wants that's how it would move from person to person whether by labor or goods ... imho ... if crazy breakdown like Venezuela happens... but takes a good while ...

I wouldn't back up the truck or anything... but I would buy some if you never done so for sure ... but don't get silly and go into debt or anything to buy metal particularly with credit cards etc as that will destroy any potential gains you would ever get and more than likely cause you to resell to pay off debts

I think before you even consider buying metals you should have all revolving and installment debt paid off besides a home and car then have a 6 month emergency fund built up equal to 6 months of your living expenses as well as a well stocked pantry you could eat from for months if you ever had to from layoffs, losing jobs, natural disasters, etc

Then and only then do,I think you should buy any metals other than maybe a few token low premium pieces if you just have to ... like 1 silver eagle or silver round a month until you get all your other financial shitnin order .. stacking doesn't help you one bit ... IMHO ...

and even then I would not keep more than 10-25% of your net worth in it becuase metals ( gold and silver ) are only assets with zero liabilities attached to them .... meaning there is zero dividend potential .. which is fine the older you get which is why I recommend they sliding range above

Income producing assets are important as well and should not be neglected over your lifetime

that said eventually the fiat monetary will collapse and humans will return to a bi metal system ... fiat monetary systems are great for very few and are destroyers for the rest ... math is math on that ... you cannot have an economic system based on having more debt in the world than existing money ... mathematics dictates it will,always fail at some point ... may not be in my lifetime but it will fail eventually...

I have bought small amounts over the past 20 years but I am still bothered by the assumptions made on cost to mine.
Most silver comes as a byproduct of mining other materials, so the cost is almost 0 after leaching chemicals.

Some people reference the Silver Institute reports, and that may be the problem. The SI was solely created to be a marketing tool for silver reseller and brokers, and to fund sites that push their products. We all know who these are. This is right on their web site, so you can not take anything they say in a report as truth. Funny thing is many resellers purchase silver FAR below spot price and sell a little over to make you feel like you are getting a good deal.

Sure silver will go up over 30-50 years. I don't see many of the main arguments for PMs as truth but more a way to help resellers sell more and to profit more along the way.

I bought once or twice a month..bought a bay house 6 months ago and slacked off. Looks like a good time to buy 10 10/oz bars to get back in the game. I saw a very disturbing video on gold 1 oz bars though. The guy claimed 50% of what was for sale on ebay was counterfeit. So be careful. I usually buy 5 gram bars from reputable dealers.

there are a number of good articles on storage. If you buy gold, its a much smaller footprint than silver. A lot of value stored in a small space and weight. That being said, I think the upside for silver at 14 oz or 85/1 ratio.
