Much of the discussion revolved around the family interview not being sad/devastated enough, or outraged enough. There were also rumors discussed here from the beginning (supposedly from hospital staff) that Seth was not really all that badly hurt when he arrived at the hospital, and he was definitely going to live. Then some important people showed up, everyone was kicked out, the area was locked down, and the next day he was "dead." Apparently this shocked the staff who had seen him earlier. Based on that, some folks here thought he was finished off by these people (actually dead), and some thought he was whisked away to witness protection (still alive). So yes, OP, it is a very old speculation, since you asked.
