Truly wonderful thing your doing.

Tonight I had my first meal in way over a week, I've been so hungry.

Pathetic I know, and how any of us get here I'm not sure, but I always tell people I'm a lot better off than most. ( I never tell anyone I can't feed myself, how embarrassing) cool2

Merry Christmas to you and all those who struggle especially with young children.

Love and happiness to all.

I know how you feel. My wife and I are down to eating 3 meals a week. We drink water and stay hydrated in between. We do eat largish meals - 1500-2000 cal each per meal. At this rate, we still have over 12 months of reserve food left. We have seed to plant in the spring so we should be good by summer.

We've booth been looking for jobs for quite some time, but no-one seems to want to hire someone older (late 50s) and we're to young to draw SS or take money from our 401K without huge penalties.

My wife was out of the workforce for quite some time so she wasn't eligible for unemployment insurance. I got a whopping 12 weeks at $350/week before it ran out. Insurance alone costs us $1600/month for a policy that has us pay $13K out of pocket before it covers anything. Insurance takes all our available cash, so we eat our prep food and put everything else off.

We don't need anything. We've give our problems to God to solve for us and no matter what happens to us here, we'll never stop loving our Creator for all he has done for us.

I just wanted you to know that your not alone and that God has a plan for you.

Thank you for your beautiful posts everyone. You all show such warmth. If we can transfer that to the outside world, we really make things happen. hf

I need to run for a bit, but will be back later. Also, do not forget that sometimes it is even more exciting to get a present delivered, so if you have an Amazon wish list with some presents up to say $50 in total, that would work too.

I wished I could do more, but let's see what is possible.

I do not want to leave a long huge poor me post. My husband had his hours cut so I picked up some hours at work.
I just sold my car to help with Bills but have been left with no money. We have four kids and have not been able to buy one gift.

That's it. We just are as broke as ever at Christmas.

Re: Christmas Give Away for those in need.
Last year we had a Christmas Giveaway Thread here, started by St3v3 and followed by others like Javierruiz, Zalinsky, Cosmicgypsy, Truthserum and forgive me if I missed anyone else, who made Christmas a little better for those in need through this thread:

Thread: $250 Dollar Amazon Gift Card For Someone in Need for Christmas.

I would like to follow up on that tradition this year and have saved up $500 throughout the year to give to those who can use it most.

Our society is getting tougher, colder, more individual. No doubt about that. More and more people struggle to put food on the table, not only at Christmas, but day after day. Let alone them being able to buy their kids and loved ones the tiniest gift for their birthday or with holidays like these. On the other hand we have entered an era, where a lot of people rather focus on their smart phone than to keep an open eye for those in need.

I do not believe in a religious kind of way, but I do believe in people and in good outdoing the bad. To those that struggle, I want to say: "Do not give up! In our weakest moments we find strength and belief, in ourselves and those around us. Don't be afraid to reach out. Trust me, I've been there myself and it is only through strength, belief and reaching out that I am now able to pay if forward. If I can do it, you can do it too. You are beautiful, you are strong, you are no quitter."

Of course, there will be voices that say that this gesture will be abused, that people should crawl out the hole that they dug, that everyone makes their own bed. To you I want to say that your words have no place or meaning here. This is a thread about giving and caring, not about doubt or blame.

And to those that want to give, but are not able to do that financially. Know that the power of giving is not financial driven. It is driven by the heart. Lending someone an ear, show encouragement through words or giving a heartfelt hug or a tap on the shoulder, already can work miracles and be the trigger to give people that boost of confidence they need. If together we can do that within the circle of our own influence, we already made our world a bit warmer. And give hope that it will spread like an ink spot.

Okay, enough talk. Sorry, the curse of writing. tomato

I would like to spread the amount to as many people as possible. Through PayPal preferably. But I also have an Amazon premium membership, so if you for example create a wish list there with some presents for your kids or loved ones, that would work too. Try to keep it at a maximum of €50.

Anyway, feel free to post here, send me a pm or email me at [email protected] with your paypal or wish list and I will see what I can do in the coming few days. I can't be around 24/7, because of work, but I will make sure you will get it in time.

Merry Christmas to everyone. You are all beautiful. hf

Re: Christmas Give Away for those in need.
Before I noticed your thread, this morning I caught myself thinking somehow about how you helped a friend, not only of mine but of yours too.

I know it may not be obvious to what I refer but what's important to know, as it were, is that helping others matters far more to many more than just those whose lives are directly enriched and made less burdensome.

Being in need being the relative thing it is, my thoughts then drifted off knowing it matters little what I could have but rather what I do have, and among the latter are health, determination, and time enough to set aright times that seem rough. Though a friend in need I may be, of what I am most needing is more friends like thee. Alas, in life, they do seem to come so very sparingly.

They say blessings are best shared; to that I say some shared curses are blessings.

Ah, fond memories. Truthserum here....I had been gone for a while and when I came back couldn't figure out how to reactivate my old handle....that's what I get for being old.

I remember lots of naysayers when this happened last year and sure, there may be someone who will take advantage when they don't really need the help but that is not the point. All I will say is, what happened here last year truly brought home that old adage, It's more blessed to give than to receive".

God Bless you Intermezzo...I'm not in a position this year to do what I did last but I will just tell anyone who is thinking about joining in helping you with this, you will not regret it!

I recently got custody of 2 children who's mother disappeared about 10 years ago with them. They were molested and lived in a small trailer with 6 adults. They came to me with no clothes and my daughter would only eat food from a can because she was so accustomed to it.

I had to quit my career to take care of them. Needless to say things are very tight financially and I would love to get them a few nice gifts and dinner since they never have had a Christmas before.

Thank you and godbless.
