Well so far it has all the hallmarks of a hate crime hoax and zero evidence of an actual hate crime, but is this any surprise?

No witnesses.

No video evidence despite massive urban surveillance nets.

Contradictory narrative (hateful racist homphobes are fans of a show featuring black gay men?) and forgotten/recently added detail about "MAGA Country" slur.

The Noose. This is a recurring theme for the left, like backwards swastikas.

Fake hate crimes make up the majority of hate crime investigations. This is almost a boilerplate copy of them.

The ridiculous attempt to provide some kind of explanation of why he was all alone (turned down body guards).

What kind of tv budget allows for full time body guards for it's cast? Is that something anyone has ever heard of before in any production, for any reason outside of an active war zone?

Here's how it will play out; they will not be able to locate any evidence of the attackers during the investigation because there is none. This hole in the story will be challenged by "Police are systemically racist and failed to investigate because he is black/gay" He will stick to his story and unless they can uncover some kind of corroboration it will be forgotten except for where they can make political hay out of it. If they find evidence that it was faked, it will disappear down the memory hole and he will face some nominal fine at the worst and it will be explained that his fear from living in such a racist/homophobic country justified making the story up, because Trump.
