Caitlin Keen, an avid runner who came in first in this year's Cowtown 10K and qualified for the Olympic trials, said she was jogging Sunday morning along the trail near the Hulen Street bridge when she was suddenly attacked. "The dog came running right at me and jumped up right on me and pulled me down to the ground," she said. "I was just terrified. I really thought it was going to try to kill me." She said she could have died if not for the help of two passersby, including a woman who threw rocks at the animal. I can't comprehend is it that hard or expensive to put dog masks while walking with them? |

I can't comprehend is it that hard or expensive to put dog masks while walking with them? Neither! Muzzles can be had for under ten dollars if necessary, on up, way up, for designer leather types. Putting them on takes a second. Training the dog to accept them - five minutes with a smart owner. Feed the dog a few treats out of one, do it two or three days. On third day, fasten straps very loosely and put in a couple more treats. Third day couple treats in the mask, fasten the mask. Fourth day, rub butter inside the mask, fasten it, and go for a walk. That easy. If the dog loves walks, he'll be all for it. Just don't back down - no walk if no muzzle. All bears, cats (like lions and tigers), elephants, hippos, rhino's, sharks, etc. As people tend to drown every year, we should eradicate all water on the planet to make sure that doesn't happen as well. Also, too many people die from automobiles. We need to outlaw all motorized vehicles to save lives. It's for the children! Sarcasm I had a friend who's pit saved a woman at a park from a guy beating her. You never hear about that sort of thing in the news. I've have a few pits and they never attacked anyone. Dogs have different personalities and you usually know when you get a temperamental one. I watch my dogs carefully and train them. I get ALL dogs have instincts but it's not exclusive to only pits. I'm not condoning these attacks because the owner is at fault. I would be okay with creating a law where a person would need a special license and insurance. Mandatory classes would be a good idea. A leash and muzzle are a great. I seen a few on the fence in these posts. I've seen the other side living in Detroit where they breed them to guard their drugs. Some get pits and chain them up and never interact with them. I've seen the police shoot pits on drug raids. If a person has a felony they shouldn't be able to own a pit. That would clean up the ghetto problem with pitbulls. Having had loving pits I find myself in a pickle here. Should I concede because society doesn't have the sense to understand you have to put forth the effort of training and socializing with them? Stupid people need to be told what to think my dog and I have to pay the price. Tell me how I'm an asshole now. |

The reason is during the Chicago mafia times they were breed specifically for dog fighting and some were bread as "man-eaters", these were dogs that were trained to attack humans. The mafia trained these dogs to hurt people for revenge. Now many of those dogs from that lineage have infiltrated the the mainstream dog adoption process. Cesar Milan should be put down for all his encouragement towards buying these types of dogs. They need to be put down and phased out. Not the opposite. I hope she has the dog put down. It's always the small penis owners that need big pick up trucks and violent dogs. |

Quoting: MarPep They were bred for strength, jaw power, and love of fighting/killing---and that breeding has been very successful. They should not be allowed to be off a chain or out of a fenced enclosure. Penalty for failure of owner should be severe. Most dogs, like many men, love hunting. Pit bulls frequently love killing, like some seriously dangerous men. no, they need to be genocided, plane and simple you can put all the laws on the books you want and it's not going to stop these devils especially in certain neighborhoods where they roam free and nobody even knows who owns them |

Darla Napora, 32, was found by her husband, Greg, at their house at 588 Reina del Mar around noon. Neighbor Kathy Carlson, 63, saw the distraught husband outside the house before the police arrived. "He was in the driveway all frantic, yelling," said Carlson, who lives across from the white single-story home that the Naporas began renting last winter. "He had blood on his hands, blood on his shirt and blood down his pants." Residents and visitors to the quiet block struggled to make sense of what had occurred. "They are not barking dogs. They seemed friendly," Carlson said of the two pit bulls owned by the Naporas The dogs where suppose to be for protection for his pregnant wife. When is enough enough. I love dogs and have met friendly pits but enough is enough. Dont kill them off but make it illegal for them to breed any more. It is time to put an end to a murderous brutal beast like breed. |

Dog bit his hand off. They don't say what kind of dog, but I know damn well it was a pit bull. It was a husky - smarter dogs, but unpredictably violent as well. Very sad story, damn. They couldn't find the arm and figure the dog may have eaten it. I don't know, maybe the dog buried it and they should look into that, but it was two days ago. Pits are all over here - central Arkansas. I feel every pit owner should be required to pay a $200 fee to victims assistance, yearly, in order to own one. Like a loaded gun in the wrong hands, they are simply to dangerous to live among humans, as wonderful as they can be. The exceptions are outweighing the rule when we are murdered and slaughtered by "pets." |

Babysitter could not voice command or physically beat the dog off the baby and had bite wounds herself that needed medical attention from trying to get baby away from the dog. The police had to shoot it because it would not give the attack. All well before 5 g. I'd say this was an isolated event; raised by loving human parents to suddenly attack unprovoked for no reason but you see it happens time and again with this breed. Females, children and the elderly.....who ever the dog thinks it can bully.. Get it? My chow chow mix is the same way...give him an inch and he will take a mile. He came that way. It's his DNA. Know it, understand it, own it, protect it. My dog knew a friend for 5 years, she would come and give him kisses over the fence until the one time.......now she gets it. Why, I don't know...she smelled different; weak, sick, like a cat? Who the fuck knows but a dog...a mean old temperamental dog. |
