Even Yosmite, which according to this book has the most amount of missing disappearances, the author is talking about 30 people going missing in the past 200 years. Yes he's going back that far. Out of the thousands of people who visit Yosemite every year, are you really going to stop visiting beautiful national parks because of 30 going mysteriously dissappearing in the past 200 years?
