[link to www.deagel.com] Woah I'd forgotten about that Deagel site! Saw the same headlines this morning and instantly arrived at the same conclusion... I've been stepping away from the doom lately and refocusing on health etc - maybe my subconscious knows something I don't?! Remember how they pulled the series Utopia despite its success in terms of viewing figures? Got a little too close to the truth, ahem. |

A century ago the Spanish flu pandemic infected a third of the world's population and killed 50million people. If a similar outbreak were to happen with today's constantly-travelling population, the effects could be even worse, a report has suggested. The Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB), a team of health experts led by a former chief of the World Health Organization, has produced the report to try and spur world leaders into action. 'The threat of a pandemic spreading around the globe is a real one,' the group said in a report released today. 'A quick-moving pathogen has the potential to kill tens of millions of people, disrupt economies and destabilise national security.' [link to www.dailymail.co.uk (secure)] When world conditions were better, the risk of pandemic diseases drops. Those types of illnesses usually spring up in third world nations where filth and lack of personal hygiene go swimmingly together. Sort of like California today... If you walk down the streets in LA, when you take your shoes off, leave them outside. Don't touch them with your hands, and wash your hands the minute you go in side. |

This is before air travel. Let that fucking sink in for a moment and then try and figure out how the exact same flu started in opposite ends of the earth on the same day. |

More troops were killed by sickness than enemy contact during WWI. That particular flu strain attacked young healthy adults rather then the very young or very old population. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78007539 More troops were killed by sickness than enemy contact during WWI. That was due to a cytokine storm...a hyperactive immune system found in youth but not the elderly or the very young. It can be moderated... Also, aspirin dropped fevers allowing the flu to advance...it could be correct to say aspirin killed more than the flu. Both my grandparents were infected and survived....never had more than a day long cold afterwards. I think their immune system became supercharged... |

It'd have to be at least 500,000,000.... There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. |

Very dirty air pollution due to excessive bombing and fires... vitamin D from the sun that is needed for immune system is greatly suppressed... Dunno... That's something I had always wondered about why "healthy" young people got killed in such great numbers... There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true. |

No fever, so it's not the flu, but lots of coughing, a scratchy throat, and a runny nose. I've had it since Monday. I used to get sick once a year, now it's 5-6 times. My immune system is shot due to stress. :/ |
