My Family could use some Spiritual support right now. - update page 85

Hospital is real slow today they wanted him there at 10:30 this morning, and they just took him into surgery about five minutes ago (3:45) Wife is with him today, only one person allowed with the patient now.

Wow! That's a long time to go without food and water! We'll be waiting to hear the results.

and prayers!

They will be thorough and careful; I pray he is all set for an easier lifestyle with the port.

Prayed for a great outcome for him and your family---have faith!

Ok Guys he is out of the recovery room. Everything went well and they are working on getting him discharged now.

Ok just got word he has been discharged and they are heading home now. Going to be a short night because he has dialysis first thing in the morning.

Surgery and dialysis back to back. Yikes!

It was long night here, the pharmacy at the hospital and wal mart were both closed so he couldn't get his pain medicine prescription filled last night. He didn't sleep much last night because his arm was hurting. He got it filled this morning before dialysis.

You can actually feel blood pulsing through the graph, so hopefully with the help of the blood thinner he is on this one will be viable.

Hes so ready to get that chest port out, we will know in two weeks if thats a go. It will require another surgery to remove it.

This is the kind of stuff that (I am having a hard time not cussin) really ticks me off. HOW DARE THEY not find a way to ensure someone has pain meds after surgery. The inpatient pharmacy could have hooked him with a few doses if a physician had insisted. Poor Dakota! I am sorry this happened to him!

I am glad you can feel the bruit on the fistula. Now you know what the baseline is. If it starts to fade or doesn't seem as strong you can be proactive.

I didn't realize hospital pharmacies closed. That's so strange. I'm so sorry he had such a bad night :(

Yes its been a uneventful week, which is good news. We are leaving for dialysis in few minutes, we can still feel a pulse in the graph so this too is good news.

Yes. We will more know this coming friday when he goes back to the Doctor. Hes really ready to get that chest port removed. Eight plus months of having to take a bath and then have Mom wash his hair in the kitchen sink, hes looking forward to a shower.

Oh my! It has been that long, hasn't it? Wow! Yeah, I can imagine he's looking forward to a shower at this point. Bless his heart. That's just nuts that they left it in so long, but I suppose that is what they are using for dialysis?

My ignorance is showing. I don't know much about kidney stuff and my Aunt Sue is a Dr. in that field. Shame on me. I honestly never thought to ask!

Continued prayers and lots of virtual all around as you all continue to battle with paperwork and appointments. God will sort this out. I know he will. It just might not look like we imagined it would when we prayed. :)
