Sounds to me like the Cartels knew they were fucked on this one, so they had some low level guy watch a couple of hostages threw in a couple of black assault rifles for good measure and then told the Federalis where to find him. This keeps the US military at bay, makes the Fedarali's look good, and takes a little heat off of the Cartels. Same mentality when they tell customs where & when a load of coke is coming in, so they can get 10 more loads in another location.

This is what is going on in many areas of Guatemala. The gangsters can be shot on sight and most communities depend on 'elders' to keep them safe by eliminating potential threats, since the police are useless.

So, what has happened is this; the known drug and cartel dudes, the guys with the tattoos and all that crap recruited young teens to do their work for them, so now you have 13-16 year olds carrying out extortions, attacks, and murders.

The first few months that I lived in Guatemala, the elders took out 7 people - 5 teen boys and 2 adults that were ordering them with what to do. They were MS13 associated.

Patsy or just a flat-out fake story to ease the Americans minds.
