I had no idea there was an induction compatible pressure canner in existence yet! This is going to make my canning life infinitely easier and better! It’s so easy to keep a specific temperature with induction without having to babysit the canner like you have to with all other forms of cooking.

I also bought, from one of their vendors, (Walmart wanted $33), the 3 piece pressure regulator with it for only $13. This is what allows you not to have to sit around watching the dial. The 5, 10, and 15 lb. individual weights make it easy to just listen for the jiggling to tell you it’s up to pressure.

For anyone with the 1 piece pressure regulator who want the much better optional one, it’s part #50332. Well worth it and along with the new induction ready option I’d rather have it than a free deluxe tank of a canner.

I don't know if this falls under hopium, kitchen sink, or a might be.I DO know Texas Tech has a lot of researchers on staff and they have great programs.

I just looked things up and you won’t need a 14” induction hub. Mine is a little over 10” and works great with my 28 qt pressure cooker so should work fine with the same sized pressure canner.

I bought mine, a Volrath, at Webstaurant store 10 years ago. They will help you pick one to suit your needs. Induction cooking won’t heat up your home, is energy efficient, and Since mine is portable and only weighs about 6 or 7 pounds I can cook anywhere.

Fully loaded, hot pressure canners can be very heavy. It will be nice to just do it on the floor, lol.

Also, you can use your pressure canner to pressure cook! You can even stack things in pans and pressure cook a three course meal at once if you want to. They are big, though, so take up some space.

These look like people who could have sudden attacks of suicide or really silly accidents in the near future, if they are really on to something.

That ones new. And a few new ones are promising.... I just am concerned that they are focused on nasal and lungs. Plus many of these only work in early intervention......

The next mutation could to be the permanent asymptomatic (or longer presymptomatic) phases..... and that throws out so many of these treatments.

I want to see the work on tamping down the marrow cells. That would help reduce the cancer risk.

Thanks for the advice. I canned via hot water bath for jars and lids. Never the whole complete jar. So this is new. And the method I used was passed down over a minimum of 6 generations.

I was blessed to watch my great grandparents as a kid .... while I didn’t take notes, I can still see everything they did. The first time that I did my own canning was from those memories. I used a recipe for the making of the sweet pickles, but actual canning..... straight from memory.

I thought it was interesting because they're looking at an inhaler as a delivery system. There are a ton of meds I can't take because my kidneys can't handle them.

The research is in very early stages so we'll just have to see where it goes. It might be something worth adding to a supplement regime.

Fireplace, well, and septic makes it very easy to drop off the grid if SHTF, especially if you've made alternate arrangements to power your well pump.

If you have just a standard fireplace, then it is definitely inefficient and a lot of heat does indeed escape up the chimney. However, if you have a wood stove or an efficient fireplace insert much more heat gets reflected back inside than goes up the chimney. Around five years ago when we had the "polar vortex" cold snap where it was -20 ambient temperature outside plus wind chill, we lost power for three days. Our new insert was barely a week old at that time, and we were able to heat our entire house with just the fireplace for those three days. The firebrick gets so hot that we can actually let the fire die down and it will continue to put out heat for several more hours.

As for well water, we have a decent filtration system in the house, but even without it, I never have to worry about my water source being contaminated due to deliberate acts of terrorism, accidents, or sheer incompetence. I do keep 90 days of potable water on hand just in case, but if my water ever becomes so contaminated that it is undrinkable, we have much bigger life-threatening problems going on.

When we were hunting for out first house to buy, I told Raffette that a basement, wood-burning fireplace, and well/septic were requirements I would not negotiate.

Given the state of the world, I would never under any circumstances move into a house that did not have those specifications.

If it works as they seem to expect, maybe as an effective prophylactic so that symptoms/asymptomatic becomes irrelevant,because the virus is killed before it can get a grip.

Which again takes us back to.... we need daily testing to get it sooner.

I apologize....I will continue to point out the flaws because tooooo much excitement and it gets tested..... sure it works, but oh look we can’t test in time or enough virus still escapes to other places or a person was a mouth breather or it got in through the ear canal..... or STD.

The feds are preventing online streaming of police/fire radio traffic from Kenosha. No longer able to monitor the situation via broadcastify. This is straight from my relative in Kenosha who is in a position to know these things. She also told me a few days ago that the police chief and the mayor were no longer calling the shots, but she didn't know who was.

Riff-Raff I bought a thick s/s thing in the fireplace that’s supposed to send heat back into the room. Is there a type of fireplace insert that does’t require expensive chimney liners?

My well is way too deep to work without power but I have year round running creek I can get water from. I do have the well’s holding tank in the crawl space but don’t know how to get to that water. I think it’s under pressure. Do you if there is a way to get to it in an emergency that won’t ruin the system?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration late Friday allowed the drug remdesivir to be used on all patients
hospitalized with COVID-19, although no published research supports such widespread use.
In May, the FDA allowed remdesivir to be used for hospitalized patients who need oxygen, but not those sick enough to require ventilation.
No studies have been published since then supporting more widespread use of remdesivir, yet the FDA said the data is now compelling enough to expand its use.
The FDA announced the expanded use of remdesivir at 5:20 p.m. ET on Friday, citing two studies to support its decision. One was the study published in May.
The other, released earlier this month, found that five days of treatment with the drug was just as effective as 10,
allowing supplies of the sought-after drug to be stretched. That study was conducted by the drugmaker, Gilead Sciences Inc. of Foster City, California.
