I think at this point people are going to gather come hell or high water b/c they may feel it will be their last chance at seeing family again due to lockdowns that are coming.

I have a night off from the hospital. As I’m on my couch with my dog I can’t help but think of the Covid patients the last few days.

The ones that stick out are those who still don’t believe the virus is real. The ones who scream at you for a magic medicine and that Joe Biden is Going to ruin the USA. All while gasping for breath on 100% Vapotherm. They tell you there must be another reason they are sick. They call you names and ask why you have to wear all that “stuff” because they don’t have COViD because it’s not real.

Yes. This really happens. And I can’t stop thinking about it.

These people really think this isn’t going to happen to them. And then they stop yelling at you when they get intubated. It’s like a fucking horror movie that never ends. There’s no credits that roll. You just go back and do it all over again. Which is what I will do for the next three nights. But tonight. It’s me and Cliff and Oreo ice cream. And how ironic I have on my “home” Hoodie. The South Dakota I love seems far away right now.

We normally don't do challenge trails where we willfully expose people to a disease. Goes against the do no harm doctrine.

Phase three is where you check efficacy by vaccinating group A and give group B a salt water injection in the hopes that as you send them back in to the "normal" world they will be equally exposed through natural means. The desired end result being that Group B has more infections then Group A, which in the early data from Pfizer etc seems to be the case.

It's early data because in the Pfizer trail Group A + Group B is about 40k people and at the time of the press release 94 got infected, the 90% number means that those in Group B were 10x more likely to have been infected thusfar.

Challenge trails were being planned earlier because of fears that there may be to little exposure but we've collectively worked hard to solve that problem in the past two months.

A friend of my sister has just had it, she was diagnosed positive a few weeks ago. No respiratory issues, only neurological. She woke up in the morning and couldn’t transmit a message from her brain to move her hand to pick up a glass of water. She also couldn’t make her body roll over, the message wouldn’t transmit.

She might not have respiratory symptoms..... but make sure to she still knows to check oxygen levels.

It’s not just the lungs that cause the oxygen issues. It does something to the blood cells that don’t let pick up and distribute the oxygen properly.

Already had one power surge as we heard a transformer explode in the distance. UPSs kept everything running until the power kicked back on, but there are scattered outages all across Indianapolis.

I’m hearing more and more stories of extended family/friends getting the virus. These are good folks who simply seemed to think it’s not a big deal or that they are somehow able to avoid it.

Right now, most are relatively mild infections, severe cold or “flu-ish”.
Here’s the thing, at some point the number of infected in this circle is going to yield a hospitalization and potentially a death.

These are mostly younger people < 50 years old who are dragging it back into their households and spreading to their parents and grandparents.

The number of just the people I know that are confirmed with the virus has increased x5. Add the people I know that know others and it approaches x10 easily - compared to just a month ago.

One good thing about summer vacation normalcy bias versus holiday normalcy bias, is that the vacations did not happen on the same day. They were spread out over a few months time.
