Ozone Sterilization for N95 Mask Re-use What say you?

Don't need an ozone generator.
A $15 Vacum UV light bulb (sub 254nm UV-C, for example 180ish nm) generates ozone. Just put that bulb in a cheap socket in a large OPAQUE (and closed)(UV-C is harmful, don't expose yourself to it at all) steralite container and plug it in outside for 30minutes with the object in the container. When done, unplug the socket from the mains then open the container and retrieve the object. The object is sterilized by both the uv-c light and the ozone it produced.

Whole thing should cost you less than 30-40 bucks.

Cycle through use each mask once but don’t throw out. If you run out and can’t get any more then look at doing this but only as a last resort. Don’t forget your giggles and disposable gloves. Get a good routine of hand washing and removal and replacement of PPE.

Yes. We already have eye protection for the family.

I plan on disinfecting those the same way after usage.

I have read a bit about the efficacy of OZONE regarding the killing of bacteria and viruses, so I went ahead and bout a 10,000MG/Hr Ozone generator and a nice sized clear plastic storage bin I intend to use as a sterilizing chamber. I've read many articles and it looks very promising.

So far it looks like the only issue I will have is perhaps over saturation of O3 on the elastic straps for the masks.

If this thing TRULY goes off the hook in the coming weeks, many may be forced to "re-use" their masks due to lack of supplies. Which is a total NO-NO when dealing with viruses and such.

Anyway, for what it's worth, I figured I would pass this info out to all of you and see if any of you have any other suggestions or see a problem with this.

I'll be operating the generator in none confined spaces (Outside, maybe the garage with ventilation if it's rainy) and plan to pipe ALL of the concentrated Ozone into the box, thus saturating the masks for something in the 30 minute range.

Just mist it with rubbing alcohol. The alcohol evaporates and everything on the mask is D-E-A-D. Why make it more complicated?

Realistically if it came down to that, an M40 mask with plenty of spare filters is how I would roll..

Explain what Ozone is and why you think it will help you.

I'll toss out a hint, It's O3 (Super oxygen). Sure, it helps a bit but isn't all that and a bag of chips.
