I am thinking the very same about the "frustration level"
with certain aspects of the new INFO coming out about
the "novel corona virus" we are seeing.

I posted on an earlier corona virus thread my own personal
"frustrating story" last week...and it was met with comments
about my being in a Panic. Not even...I'm FRUSTRATED not in panic!

I will just give you a quick version of my own situation
here in NW Montana, Watcher.

A fellow in his early 30's is finishing up his education
at our local university to be a "surgeon's assistant."
He spends a good deal of his time at a very large hospital
in my city...even in operating rooms as he is doing his
"clinicals."

We were all on the porch having cigs and morning coffee
when the subject of the virus came up. My spouse filled
him in on what we have been following here on GLP and
that it is now a PANDEMIC according to the WHO.

Our jaws hit-the-floor when this young man--who is a
medical person at our hospital--DID NOT KNOW FACT ONE ABOUT
THIS VIRUS. We asked: "Well, are they testing for it?"
He assured us that NO TESTS WERE BEING DONE..."nobody has
even mentioned this up here!"

So not only is the "average JOE" in our town walking around
completely uninformed about it...a FULL-BLOWN CASE of
novel corona virus could show up at the hospital here and
they would ASSUME IT TO BE "SEASONAL FLU" and send them
home with aspirin. We were just floored and especially since
there has been a CONFIRMED CASE only 1 and 1/2 states to
the West of us in Everett, WA!


He's working in the HOSPITAL and he doesn't
KNOW ABOUT THIS VIRUS? WAAAAAAHT?

It is CRIMINAL that this information is being deliberately
suppressed (as Alex states in his video...with many videos
even being banned) while there are folks walking around
shedding the virus BUT WITH NO SYMPTOMS.

The CAPS are frustrations...not panic. But I will hold
my PANIC on the back-burner for the next chapter of this
STEVEN KING MOVIE we're in!

I was talking to my husband about it and we both suspect that that is the case. My husband was sick mid to end December with a strange flu, started with a sore throat, progressed to really bad lung congestion with a mild fever, wet cough got worse on day 5, at some point he was getting short of breath and had to sleep sitting up. I was feeding him mucinex and elderberry extract, home made chicken soup every 2 hours and he finally started feeling better after about 7 days. He said he's never had such bad lung congestion and shortness of breath with a flu before. He never went to the doctor as the wait times at the clinic here are insane. Decided to tough it out. Oh yea, 2 of my young male coworkes had the same thing, one of them diagnosed with pneumonia and had to be off work for 2 weeks.

Could've very well been the coronavirus as the symptoms and disease progression fit. We'll never know.

I remember my mother taking steps so I would get chicken pox as a child (I am 60)

I fought to get my kids the chicken pox and our doctor was in agreement but later changed his stance when the vaccine was being pushed.

My kids (27 and 24) both had it, but I think it would be hard today to get kids exposed.

I remember from my family and people whose kids had the chicken pox we knew that how sick a kid got was related to the initial exposure.

So, a quick small exposure led to a mild case, but the other kids in the family who were living with the first child to get it got a worse case.

If this virus works like that, I do believe many here who were really sick with the flu this winter may have had it.

I totally get your story OP, and even though I avoid crowds, my daughter is a nurse, my son works closely with other men daily in a construction trailer and my husband’s business requires a coworker to travel to China, they just got back from near Wuhan just after New Years. Another employee has family in Taiwan and.....well, I am sure anyone who starts to think about not only their exposure, but their loved ones exposure, and on and on....how would it be possible to avoid it?

Just like the Spanish Flu, the only safe place was an Island that self isolated for many years.

My thinking is that our best bet is to have supplies on hand to treat in home.

My husband traveled to China in an almost empty plane during SARS and refused to wear a mask and is all about this being nothing.

The Spanish Flu traveled the globe 3 times over several years...if this does the same everything will change.

I haven't heard of any corona case in Nepal, maybe Budha protects them, the cure is in Religion, believe in Budha and you will be saved.

I think you'll be ok as long as you washed your hands after that handshake lol. And the guy, if sick, wasn't displaying any symptoms. You'll be ok, don't worry.

I hear you though. I'm in Ontario, Canada and we've had 3 confirmed cases so far. Nobody here takes it seriously. My inlaws, who are turning 70 this year and are looking forward to flying across the world and going on a month long cruise in 2 months. They keep encouraging us to also go on a Euro trip even though I have told them that I'm staying put and avoiding airports and planes until this corona business blows over.
They look at me as if I just dismembered and ate an infant in front of them. How dare I try to ruin their travel fun by taking about something negative like a deadly virus. They think it's just a common cold. They are completely delusional and refuse to acknowledge anything that doesn't agree with their life style.

But of course they will be the first ones to stand in line for the vaccine when it comes out. They get vaccinated for everything under the sun every year and then wonder why they have strange unexplained health issues that put them in the hospital every year. Dumb people.

I kinda agree. Think too much and kinda paranoid. It's contradicting to talk on believing Jesus Christ since a person truly believes in Jesus wouldn't worry much on this.

Worrying that you're now a carrier and probably would infect other people and whether you should self-quarantine, all will wreck your mind. When you don't know whether you're infected or not, worrying about it wastes energy. If you worry, then why not just find a way to test whether you're infected if you wanna go through much trouble?

They say, ignorance is a bliss. But some of us who're not ignorant and are aware of the potential pandemic, can still be peaceful not worrying much about what could happen. I do not worry about the virus at all, and would think more on the reaction of the paranoid people who can become irrational and savage out of fear. I watched the video of Wuhan's people pressuring an old lady to wear mask while she didn't want to. People are sick in mind when they're overcome by fear. As if mask can prevent virus, that's just false sense of security. that's why I'd be more watchful on the reaction of the zombiefied people driven by fear. They could kill others out of fear just because of suspicion.

I agree. I am not afraid but really, what do you do? I have appointments at work all week to go to other area schools. Should I assume I have it and self-quarantine or continue like all is normal and find out later I hedged my bets wrong? I don't want to be the one that took it from this school to 9 others in the next two weeks!

To ease your mind a bit. This virus has been here for months. The out break likely started late October. That means people came over here and spread it before it was even news, long before.

The more we learn about it, the more we are seeing that it was designed to attack male asians more voraciously than any one else. It was designed to attach to certain lung receptors, ones that asians genetically have five time more of than we do.

So in all reality, many people here have probably had it, thought is it was a bad cold, and they are ok.

I wouldn't sit around worrying about death. Be cautious, ovviously.

Often, a bacterial infection occurs on top of the viral infection. So antibiotics are often needed anyway.

The account below details a personal encounter I had today while at work. Sorry for the length but I am trying to process this while I recount it. I still can't believe it!

My husband and I have been camped out on the Coronavirus thread since third week of January when news of it first broke. We have watched every video of every expert and seen every twitter post before it got deleted. It prompted us to top off our preps, sit down with our teenage boys and have a talk and decide to avoid the public as much as possible. We live in a small town on the outskirts of Asheville in the mountains of Western North Carolina and felt like we were somewhat safe, same as many of you. That was...TIL TODAY!

My husband has taken this seriously enough to begin working from home but I can't do that yet. So today, I visited a local High School in Asheville as part of my job. While there, an older gentleman approached me and introduced himself. We shook hands and he proceeded to tell me that his only daughter had a former connection with my employer. I asked him what she is doing now and he said she works as a music teacher in Shanghai, China. That got my attention.

I asked him if she was reporting any news to him about this pandemic and he said he didn't know much about it to ask because our news wasn't making that big of a deal about it. He said all she knew about it was that she had just gotten back into China from a week-long trip to the UK to discover that her school was shut down until March so she and her husband (also a teacher in Shanghai) are just holed up in their apartment with their young son self-isolating like everyone else. So either their news isn't telling them much or she is downplaying it for her dad's sake (which is probably most likely). Either way, my heart goes out to him, his daughter and her family but I am still thinking I am safe.

Then he goes on to say that she and her husband and several people from her school in Shanghai had just flown to the UK on or about January 20th along with teachers from all over China (Wuhan, Beijing, etc.) for a global recruiting seminar to find job placement in other "Ambassador Schools" (I am convinced at this point that they were part of the group of around 2,000 from China that the UK are looking for). He said the Chinese principal from the school where his daughter works decided to stay an extra few days in the UK to tour and is now stuck in quarantine for two weeks and can't get back. His daughter and son-in-law got out just before the UK quarantine. I am very intrigued at this point because I had just been reading about the Chinese in the UK on GLP but so far, everything he is telling me is happening either in China or the UK. Sucks for them but I am still feeling confident that I am safe.

Now, mind you, I have not let on to him that I am somewhat of a self-proclaimed Coronavirus "expert".lol. Like most of you, I have lurked on the GLP CV thread and watched every video of every expert and seen every twitter feed posted out of China. I can hold my own in a conversation about this with my new working knowledge of RO levels, infectious rates of travel and virus incubation periods. I could probably even take and pass an exam on basic epidemiology after all the experts I have listened to on this subject in the past week. But with him and while at work, I am playing it cool.

I can tell he obviously has no idea of the importance of what he is telling me and I don't want to alarm him about the potential his only daughter and her family could be facing. I also get the impression he only knows what CNN and the MSM tell him so anything I say to the contrary wouldn't resonate with his normalcy bias anyway and I would just come across as a crazy person. You need time to ease people into discussions about what could very well be the end of the world as we know it and I didn't have alot of time today to get into it. I just wanted to ask a few semi-probing questions for the GLP thread I knew I was going to write when I got home from work...and, at this point, I still felt safe.

I was not prepared for what he said next! As he continued with his stream of thought, he stated that the day or two before his daughter flew from China to the UK, his WIFE flew from Asheville to China to babysit their grandson in Shanghai. She arrived there on or about January 19 and remained there until their daughter returned from the UK (on the 28th). His wife then flew back into the US from China and arrived back in Asheville on Wednesday, the 29th. No screening, no questions, no nothing. She got home, visited with him for a few days and then left again this past weekend to drive to Myrtle Beach where they have a house under renovation. She was scheduled to meet this week with several contractors about the renovations....blah...blah...blah...

He is droning on about these renovations but all I could think was...

BACK UP! Your wife just flew here from China?


"GOOD FEELING GONE!" His wife has been in China during this outbreak and flew back into the US on an airbus with God knows WHO ELSE from China! She hopped a connecting flight in Dallas and came directly HERE! Then after a few days here, drove to the beach in South Carolina to meet with more people! She HAS to have been in contact with someone infected for the week she was in China or on the flight out of China to the US OR, at the VERY least, from her own daughter and son-in-law who just took a trip with several from around China, including Wuhan, and who has a colleague CURRENTLY IN QUARANTINE in the UK! After being in China for over a week, you KNOW she at least greeted her husband with a kiss when she got back home to Asheville. With a high RO of approx. 4.08, if she's got it then HE's got it and HE. JUST. SHOOK. MY. HAND.

My jaw is on the floor at this point in the conversation and he is still talking. I am trying to get my head around what he has just told me as he goes on to say that he teaches 3 classes a day at this local high school (population of approx. 1300 students) and each of his classes has around 30 different students. According to him, some of his students are star basketball players who had a big home game this past weekend with another school in our area and it was kind of a big deal so there was a huge turnout for the game. blah...blah...blah.

I can hear him talking but my mind is reeling at this point and all I can think is how many people has his wife been in contact with since she got back from her trip and drove on to South Carolina? And, furthermore, how many has HE been in direct contact with since his wife got home from her trip. It has been nearly a week and, if she has it, you know she is highly contagious and may not even be aware yet! In fact, he even bragged that if she had waiting a couple extra days to come back, she would be in quarantine at a military base right now but NOPE! She got back early. Yay.

I am running the numbers in my head...If she is infected but currently asymptomatic and contagious and he has direct contact with her and comes to work at a high school with 1300 students, 90 of which have direct contact with him in class (not to mention what door knobs he has touched, etc.), some of which students played in a big home game this past weekend where a sweaty basketball was passed around with students from another local high school...You see where I am going with this?!?

Yesterday, I didn't know ANYONE from China as we have a very small Asian population in Asheville and thought the chances I would encounter anyone from China or anyone directly connected with anyone from China were slim to none. I felt safe. My Community felt safe. And now this evening, my husband is joking about making me sleep in our guest bedroom for the next 14 days and I am considering it! All because my job took me to a "petrie dish" today that may or may not have included this dreaded CORONAVIRUS! WTH!!!

All concern for myself aside, I am thinking of all of those students and faculty at the school who probably have no idea what may or may not be lying on their doorstep. I have a good mind to call the school tomorrow (anonymously of course) and tell them what I have just told you. But, really, what good would it do? At this point, they would have to quarantine everyone there, AND their families, AND the rival team that came to that school for the BB game and THEIR families... This is out of our hands and we are already far behind the ball on this!

Thank you for taking the time to read all of this. I am really not a fearful person, despite my over use of exclamation points in this thread. I am just frustrated that the lack of info on this topic and lack of serious reporting by our government officials and MSM could doom us all! Those few of us trying to keep track of this can only wake up those closest to us and even some of those choose to believe the MSM and government over us.

It won't be easy for any of us to come to terms with this new reality but we need to start processing the strong possibility that our world is actually very small and made smaller still with constant air travel. This thing is here. Not coming...HERE!
Otherwise, just when you think you are safe and it's not in your area, someone with a direct personal link to this pandemic walks right up to you and shakes your hand!



Final important note...If you don't know Jesus Christ as your Savior, you might want to get on that. If what we are hearing and seeing out of China is truly now here, alot of us folks and many we know are about to meet Him!
