Lawdy........What to do about schools closing down

It's too bad that it ever got to the point where both parents have to work to keep a roof over the family's head.

It is ridiculous what people and facilities charge. People charge 10 an hour (and they all look like college age kids) and the poor parent is working for less an hour than the babysitter! Babysitters usually watch more than one kid a day, let's say 4 or 5 a day. That's 40 or 50 bucks an hour they are making! It's not supposed to be that way. You babysit and charge LESS per hour because you make it up in numbers you watch! Truly. 20 an hour from watching 4 or 5 kids is a good babysitting wage. Or at least give a reasonable weekly rate. Gee. Not everyone is a doctor, lawyer or CEO making big bucks.

Then you consider how trained and first-aid / for certified daycare workers watch 10+ kids a day for minimum wage or a dollar more than that and it really boggles the mind, while the daycare is charging 200+ a week per child.

My son came over and told me that all the town's schools are shutting down for three weeks. He told me he'd never seen so much complaining in his entire life. They're complaining about who's going to take care of their children while they're at work.


Why complain? What good is that going to do?....:shrug:


What y'all need to do is get within your close communities, and set kid watching schedules.

Make plans and organize yourselves!

I suppose, at least it's being flung out there, that they're going to shut down the whole country, but until they do, this is when community is going to be necessary!


Time to get to know your neighbors!....

This is bad.... We love the grand kids but they are a lot of work and stress. Now we are not just daily exposed to every bug going around with kids in the house coming and going, we are worn out, over worked and stressed out making us even more vulnerable and not to mention having to enforce / teach school work, using up our preps, funds, time and energy on unexpected child care. I have garden to plant, farm work to do and they are no help, far from it.

Seriously, I am my brother's keeper, if the parents have taught their children to be responsible and respectful people the neighbors can all take turns keeping each others kids.

Or GrandMaw may need to come for a 3 week visit.. LOL
