Not only is this bad for the economy - TERRIBLE for the economy - but it is a PHYSICAL GATHERING PLACE FOR THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE EVERY DAY.

If we're not supposed to gather in large groups to prevent the spread of the flu, and this is the MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD, then why is one of the largest regular groups in the country being allowed to gather every day?

Consider how the airlines handled the thousands of frantic people trying to get home over the weekend.

They kept thousands of people IN AN ENCLOSED SPACE FOR HOURS while they "tested" them for fevers or whatever bullshit.

What better way to SPREAD an actual FLU but to keep hundreds or thousands of people in an ENCLOSED SPACE FOR HOURS waiting in line, INCLUDING ELDERLY & SICKLY PEOPLE?

Why is there even still a trading floor? In the age of the Internet, it's an antiquated model. Most professional traders (99.9% of retail traders) trade online. Why can't the institutions seem to figure that out? Floor trading is inefficient to say the least and chock full of unnecessary complications and obstacles to boot. Something is very wrong with this picture. How can a guy in West Bumblefuck figure that out and some of the most profitable and liquid trading houses on the planet can't?

That's a very good question. I don't know. Maybe it's about them being able to whisper sweet nothings into each others' ears without having any kind of paper or digital trail. Or maybe they're stuck on tradition. But certainly they could do this at home via computer, but it's not about the money...I think it's about the deals and side deals and....the conspiracies THEY are involved with. There must be some reason why they insist on meeting in person.

The exchanges are high fiving themselves big time. While the people who are buying and selling the stocks are getting their financial asses kicked, the exchanges have never made so much money.

Okay, here's the LATEST.

Last week I had some somewhat serious dental work done. Nothing enormous but I was supposed to go back at the end of THIS week to get it checked. Which in my case was probably a good idea.

I called the dentist's office to make sure I had the appointment info right. They told me that:

THE MASS DENTAL SOCIETY HAS TOLD ALL DENTISTS OFFICE TO CLOSE DOWN AS OF TOMORROW MARCH 17 AND NOT TO REOPEN AT LEAST UNTIL APRIL 6TH.

Now I would not have even found that out if I had not had a QUESTION about the appointment.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE PEOPLE IN MASSACHUSETTS SUPPOSED TO DO WITH DENTAL CARE, ESPECIALLY SERIOUS CARE, FOR AT LEAST 3 WEEKS?


And the STOCK MARKET IS STILL OPEN.

Thanks for the idea, you're probably right. If that's his idea, it IS a stupid idea. And if the public health officials were serious, they would tell him to SHUT IT DOWN. But they don't. Haven't heard a PEEP about the Stock Market.
