Quoting: nutmeg Don't mind the stupid responses here. It's to be expected by idiots who do not understand that there are good people out there. You mean you want to believe it and that if they just so happen to setup a gofund me for it, you would line up to donate? jk, not really but seriously. |

I said, "no problem." I then told her a joke. I asked "What's the most effective way to remove sticky chewing gum from your hair?" She said, "I don't know." I replied "Cancer!" She started crying. Long story short, she had cancer. |

Quoting: nutmeg Don't mind the stupid responses here. It's to be expected by idiots who do not understand that there are good people out there. I am noticing that this emergency is IN FACT "softening" many people. This happened to me today as well. I'm under lock-down in my city...everything is closed except about 4 grocery stores in the whole town (rural pacific NW)...and I'm just scared to venture out to shop (extenuating circumstances) so I called our local Ace Hardware and talked to the manager. I told him I KNEW the grocery stores have ZERO PROGRAMS in place to deliver...but I have 2 puppies that need puppy pads and food since I have run out of my stock. I'm using bed sheets to help with their training but geeze...that's NOT working. I pleaded that I could purchase these things over the phone on my credit card and maybe some kind soul at the store could take time to deliver them. He was immediately receptive and we had this great conversation you just would NOT expect from "management." lol! He had someone at my door in 2 hours with the supplies I needed for my fur family--with complimentary T.P. rolls just to cheer me up! (That's not store policy of course.) So...there it is...Random acts of kindness linked with Op's thread title about "fear of grocery shopping!" I will pay it forward as well. My Fear
User ID: 77506217 United States 04/04/2020 11:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Possible. My very handsome son plays violin Christmas music around the holidays and receives tips in his violin case. One time a cute nicely dressed, but not fancy, little, old, African American woman stopped to hear him play outside Spout grocery store. She asked him his story and what he needed tips for. My son has autism and is limited verbal. So it is hard to have a conversation with him. Although, he can speak and advocate his simple needs. I got out of my car as she seemed upset that my son didn't answer her questions. I thought maybe she was with CPS and thought I was exploiting my son who is disabled. I just explained to her that he likes to play and put on concerts. He does not get much, maybe between $20 and 40$ and he uses it to go to the movies, eat out and buy stuff. She said he played well and that she had worked in the music business for 60 years. She asked him what he wanted and he rattled off, Fiesta Texas season passes, pool membership, and named some video games. She said wait right here. I thought she was going to call the cops. Instead, she came back and gave him $1,000.00 ( one thousand dollars). I was so shocked and speechless that I even forgot to ask her name. I just hugged her and we both thanked her. Next thing I knew she asked me for directions to Babcock Road because she was not from this area and just pop into the store to grab some things. I point and said go straight down that rod you will run into it in about 3 or four stoplights. And she was gone. So these things do happen. When they do you are left in awe as if angles really do exist. |
